Remnant Translation

The same weblog that first announced the lifting of the excommunication of the four excommunicated Lefebvre bishops brings further information to light today. "We announce further world news", declared Fernandez Cigona today on his well known Catholic weblog, "The Stork of the Tower".

Fernández was the first to announce the lifting of the excommunications of the four bishops of the SSPX on the 17th of January.

In his latest article---which was published at 12:51 today, Fernández explains that Bishop Richard Williamson has sent to the Vatican an apology and in this has regretted the damage that his unwise statements on the existence of gas chambers in Auschwitz-Birkenau have caused.

The bishop's content and tone surprised {the Vatican}, having a "very agreeable" impact.

For Fernández this is a further step in the desirable Vatican reconciliation process with the SSPX.

The Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, Giovanni Battista Kardinal Re, is of the opinion that many problems could have been avoided if there had been more contacts between the Holy See and the SSPX.

The good will of the Pope will {Re thinks} be fully accepted (appreciated) by the followers of Archbishop Lefebvre.

Fernández also points out that the Gas Chamber explanations of Bishop Williamson---"certainly unfortunate, even if they did not bring into question the evil of National Socialism"---were made months ago.

The fact that Swedish Television brought this out almost simultaneously with the publication of the latest decree of the Pope regarding the lifting of the excommunications, makes it "obvious that this was done with the intention of discrediting the Lefebvrists and--above all--the Pope".

For Fernández the reaction of Bishop Williamson is a further proof of the determination of the SSPX to bring the reestablishment of full communion with Rome to a happy ending.
