Patrick J. Buchanan has penned another great column today, entitled "Both U.S. and Catholicism in Crisis." Here's a snippet: : "During the 1950s, the twin pillars of worldwide anti-communism were Dwight Eisenhower’s America and the Roman Catholic Church of Pope Pius XII. During the 1980s, the last decade of the Cold War, Ronald Reagan and the Polish pope, John Paul II, were the pillars of resistance. When Pope Francis arrives in Washington on Tuesday afternoon, the country he enters will be a very different one from Eisenhower’s America or Reagan’s America. And Catholics will be welcoming a new kind of pope." READ MORE HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: Ever notice how woefully inept modern Catholics are at demonstrating precisely why or in what sense their new brand of Catholicism is an improvement on the old? Everything is in chaos and getting worse, and yet we keep hearing about how much better off we are, how great it all is, how progressive, how superior....
I don't get it. Doesn't it remind you of The Twilight Zone or something? I mean, you've empty churches being sold off by the dozen while these increasingly odd little priests of ours grin more broadly than ever from up there behind their table-altars as if all is well. What in heaven's name are they grinning at?
Nuns dressed in dowdier pants suits than Hillary’s, tour around the world telling everyone how progressive they are, totally unaware of how old they are.
The hierarchy assures us that they care more about poor people than did any of their predecessors back to the Apostles, oblivious of the fact that nobody cares what they care about anymore. Even after the massive clerical sex scandal and vicious cover-ups, that these men have become morally and socially irrelevant doesn't even occur to them.
And now we have a humble pope—the veritable embodiment of Modernism—bragging from the red carpet about how he’s going to show mercy to the millions of disenfranchised Catholics rendered as such by the very Modernism he himself espouses with every breath he takes. In other words, his fix is to repeat the same thing all over again, presumably with some vague hope of achieving a different result. And nobody notices that this fits a textbook definition of insanity?
The Catholic Church is better (though we don’t use the word “Catholic” anymore, of course, unless necessity absolutely demands it) and more progressive, now that millions have left the Church, many more millions don’t bother going to Mass, and many many more millions than that don’t accept fundamental dogmas of the Church, the denial of which constitutes apostasy…only most Catholics are too dumbed-down to know what that word even means.
Meanwhile, tucked away in broom closets, banished from the holy places, forgotten and ignored, Jesus Christ our King is subjected to the supreme mockery of His own attempting to create Him in their image and likeness instead of the other way around—a demonic inversion these arrogant little men would have the world believe is “merciful”.
Faithless and flat, meaningless and moribund, Godless and gutless—welcome to the New & Improved Catholic-Christian Church Community of the Second Vatican Council.
