A day after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, many are wondering whether the political polarization in this country has grown too severe, as leaders of all political stripes express shock and horror at the first shooting of a U.S. president since Ronald Reagan was nearly killed.
At this time, known facts of the July 13th assassination attempt are fewer than the questions it has raised. While the shooter has been identified, how he came to be on the roof with a rifle, willing and able to fire at a former President, is yet to be uncovered. Others question how the FBI handling this investigation isn’t an obvious case of conflict of interest.
Trump, however, thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers on his social media platform, Truth Social, attributing his survival of the assassination attempt to “God and God alone”:
“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness. Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed. In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win. I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin. DJT”
Editor’s Comment: Now this is a moment for the adults in the room to recognize an opportunity. People are now getting shot because of the hateful rhetoric of the left, rhetoric which is leveled against all pro-life, pro-family, pro-God Americans. The rhetoric of the left is so hateful and so dangerous that it must be said the enemy is encouraging just this sort of violence in our country.
