The message was concise and clear: “Donald Trump was shot.” Did this surprise? No. Trump has been a soft target of an ongoing character assassination since 2015, when he first announced his candidacy for the presidency as a republican.
This time, however, the assassination turned bloody and was an inch or so from being fatal.
The attempt on Trump’s life marked the end of the longest span between domestic assassination attempts of U.S. presidents and presidential candidates since President Lincoln was killed at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.
A day before the attempt, President Biden spoke in Detroit saying: “Trump said if he wins he will be a dictator on day one, and he means it. We are not going to let that happen. Over my dead body will that happen … Trump is a threat to this nation.”
“It’s time to put Trump in the bull’s-eye.” This declaration was eagerly dispersed throughout Biden’s administration: “The quote was sent around by the Biden campaign to journalists after the call, a sign that the Biden team viewed the comment as part of their message rather than a gaffe.”
According to the Wall Street Journal Biden’s exhortations didn’t stop in Detroit, “It’s time to put Trump in the bull’s-eye.” This declaration was eagerly dispersed throughout Biden’s administration: “The quote was sent around by the Biden campaign to journalists after the call, a sign that the Biden team viewed the comment as part of their message rather than a gaffe.”
Biden can’t campaign on his policies both foreign and domestic because on both fronts they are dismal failures, so his campaign strategy is to turn Trump into an unvarnished demon who is a threat to democracy, dogs, cats, and even goldfish.
Demonized by Democrats, academia, Hollywood and the media as a racist, homophobe, Nazi, pick your favorite pejorative – how long before some demented, leftist zealot acts on behalf of these vitriolic words as a call to action.
Trump is in exemplary company as John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King were both demonized as “threats” before they met their demise. Trump escaped their destiny on that fateful Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania but still spilled blood for American democracy.
Trump was everything the Left has revealed themselves to be — anarchistic, despotic, unmoored by tradition and custom, and slanderous. Democrats and their media lapdogs have purposely downplayed every aspect of this assassination attempt.
Whomever is calling the shots throughout the Biden administration is very much on board with political violence. Such violence only elevates the importance of the next vice president.
As a third party candidate, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is polling in double-digits but has been denied Secret Service protection by Biden despite the fact that assassins’ bullets murdered his father and uncle. Kennedy’s nascent campaign has reportedly spent over $3 million for security. This is yet another example of the weaponization of government that is nothing short of a national disgrace.
So much for the Founders’ vision of a nation that peaceably resolves political differences through debate, discourse and elections. Those paying attention and readers of this column understand that this violent political vortex has been building for some time.
It may be important to let foreign enemies know that there are still some strong American leaders that they may have to deal with.”
Eyewitnesses told CBS News about a man on the roof with a rifle prior to Trump taking the stage.
There is no excuse for the Secret Service not clearing the rooftops beforehand.
Absolutely none.
Trump’s courage, grit, and determination is portrayed in the iconic bloody pictures of the attempt on his life. Trump has weathered the ultimate crisis of his personal and professional life and has emerged each time refusing to retreat or capitulate.
One can only hope that this latest bloody stain upon the American Republic will, in some way, help find a return to a more equitable and sane society. Don’t be mistaken, this is no kumbaya moment. Since the left has no shame, Republicans must take the high road in seeking unity, not further division.
Republicans must also reinforce what nonagenarian Thomas Sowell, America’s greatest living philosopher said in a recent Wall Street Journal op/ed on the Trump assassination, “It may be important to let foreign enemies know that there are still some strong American leaders that they may have to deal with.”
