Churchpop.com has unearthed an interesting and telling bit of video shot in Germany shortly after WWII. They ask the question: “Did you know the Church used to do things like this? The video is a news report about an amazing event called “Catholic Day” that took place in Germany in 1949. It was the 73rd time the event had occurred but was the first free religious rally in the country in 16 years (due to Nazi oppression and WWII). The video shows the crowd singing, hearing a message from a German cardinal, and hearing a recorded messaged from Pope Pius XII.”
