Following the Easter Octave this year, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Ireland launched a very special campaign inviting priests in each of the 26 dioceses of Ireland, to celebrate the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, at a Mass Rock located in their Diocese. The intention of each of these 26 Mass Rock Masses was for ‘the renewal of the faith in Ireland through the intercession of the Irish Martyrs’.

The distribution and balance of power found in Western governments is attributable in part, the late Brian Tierney argued, to the Catholic Church. One Catholic contribution identified by Tierney was the corporate form of authority exercised in medieval institutions like monasteries and cathedral chapters. Dr. Ludwig Ott’s Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma lists several de fide truths relating to sanctifying grace, including among others: in the state of original sin man is deprived of sanctifying grace and all that this implies; sanctifying grace sanctifies the soul; sanctifying grace makes the just man a friend of God; sanctifying grace makes the just man a child of God and gives him a claim to the inheritance of Heaven; the three Divine or theological virtues of faith, hope and charity are infused with sanctifying grace; and the grace by which we are justified may be lost, and is lost by every grievous sin.
