In a video posted to Facebook last week, McFarquhar announced that Havens Garden plans to host a live music, open mic night on Friday. This Moment is Overdue. As bad as 2020 has been, all of these evils are merely the mature fruits of trees we have seen flourish for decades. One can even say this about the pandemic, for the harm of the virus itself is minuscule compared to destruction caused by the coordinated global response to it. We hate to see what has happened since this time last year, but arguably we are better off now that 2020 has stirred many of us from our relative complacency.

One thing that has really struck me in the Masses I’ve attended this week (every week it’s something new!) is how strongly the traditional liturgy brings out both the feminine and the masculine sides of human nature and of the Christian life. It is absolutely not androgynous. The sequence of feasts from November 16 to November 20 are a marvelous demonstration of this characteristic.
What do the circumstances surrounding the Mueller Report tell us about the importance of safeguarding the presidential election process? If we as a nation are concerned about a candidate potentially working with a foreign actor to release true information about his or her political opponents, does it seem likely that we would be unconcerned about a candidate coordinating with the media, polling firms, state officials, poll workers and vote counters to directly manipulate voting? In other words, if we think there is a problem with a relatively minor threat to the democratic process, do we think there is a problem with the most significant threat to the democratic process?
The management of the pandemic has shed light on the naiveté of those who claimed that “international” organisations were per se a good thing. It is time to argue that the selection process for the appointment of international bodies officials is far from being satisfactory. In sharp contrast to national authorities whose power is balanced with accountability before judges, a representative parliament and the people itself, the international officers enjoy unlimited power with near no accountability. Now the WHO is the subject of a strong debate about the supposed complicity of its ruling body with Chinese authorities.
It is difficult for us to grasp how important this moment is in American history and we may tend to minimize the significance in attempt to “stay sane” or avoid stepping out of line. But we can see that it is of monumental importance if we consider the immense worldwide effort to remove Trump leading up to November 3rd, the rush to declare victory after the votes were cast, and the extensive efforts to silence us now. Even if we had not heard of the “Great Reset,” we could easily observe that removing President Trump is the goal that unites all those who hate everything we hold dear. Is this the right time to listen to them as they tell us to give up and go along?
