Pete Buttigieg: A Mayor for the Twilight Zone

But as of today, a mere 24 years later, the Supreme Court has declared that no state may pass a law forbidding recognition of a “same-sex marriage” contracted in any other state (the Obergefell decision) and has also struck down as unconstitutional Section 3 of DOMA, which prohibited any federal recognition of “same-sex marriage” (the Windsor decision). Monsters like Buttigieg now roam the political landscape wearing a cloak of respectability that no one dares remove.

THE CULTURE of DEATH: Germany Okays Suicide

Ya think? So where certain evil political parties in Germany just 70 years ago got comfortable with the idea of putting Germans to death on a mass scale, a new evil political party is now going to let German put themselves to death on a mass scale. And this they call “progress”.

A Message to the Modern Church from the Garden of Divine Agony

I started to read and meditate on The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ in preparation for Lent. For those not familiar, it is purported to be the recorded visions of the Augustinian nun, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824), who was the recipient of many mystic gifts and visions. She also is believed to have received the full stigmata, of which she reported suffering the physical effects of Jesus’ punctured hands, feet, side, and forehead. I was particularly struck by her vivid descriptions of Jesus in the Garden of Olives, or as I prefer the “Garden of the Divine Agony.”

Lenten Meditation on a Helicopter Crash

Did those souls have the Blessed Virgin Mary pleading for mercy on their behalf before the throne of her Son? Will their souls go to Heaven, Hell or Purgatory? Did they often contemplate the last four things? Do we often contemplate our Death and our Particular Judgment? Jesus said: “ If you love Me you will keep My Commandments. ” But don’t most of us really love committing one sin or another? How can we do that and love Jesus? Let us pray to the Virgin Mary to help us sever our ties with the vices that might find us wailing and gnashing our teeth just after our deaths. The beginning of Wisdom is Fear of the Lord.

TRADITION DEFENDED: An Unlikely Apologist for the Latin Mass

In his first book, The Gentle Traditionalist (Angelico Press, 2015), Buck, or at least his narrator, the somewhat vacillating Geoffrey Luxworthy, has not yet “arrived”—and perhaps neither has Geoffrey’s lady love, Anna, who tried her vocation in a strict traditionalist order but after leaving still attends the Novus Ordo:

Boy Scouts of America, RIP. (Is the Catholic Church Next?)

And these leftist ideologues have the gall to accuse us of hate when in fact they’re the ones in the hating game, regularly expressing their contempt for everything from the God of Christianity, to the Bible, to America, to motherhood, to fatherhood, to babies and ultimately even life itself. Depopulate the world. Legalize euthanasia. Get rid of people. Slaughter babies.

A BALANCED APPRAISAL: Bishop Schneider on the Apostolic Exhortation

ROME, February 19, 2020 ( LifeSiteNews ) — In a new in-depth analysis of the apostolic exhortation Querida Amazonia, Bishop Athanasius Schneider has praised what he views as Pope Francis’ decision not to weaken priestly celibacy or open the door to a female “diaconate.” But he has also criticized the “lamentable doctrinal ambiguities and errors” that he says the document contains.

Querida Amazonia: Syncretizing Smoke and German-tinted Mirrors

The reactions to the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Querida Amazonia —I had almost written Post-Sinusoidal Apostolic Expectoration—have once again exhibited all the features of an ecclesiastical Rorschach inkblot test. In spite of the document’s hailing from the man whom we might as well agree to call Pope Lío (as in ¡Hagan lío! ), conservatives of the First Things variety have breathed a collective sigh of relief: “Peter has spoken through Lío!” The pope did not, after all, push through married priests and female deacons, as everyone had feared! The Germans are collectively wringing their hands in an anguish of disappointment. Liberals in the Anglosphere are incredulous that the God of surprises did not deign to use their darling as a mouthpiece for the Zeitgeist.

APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION: Francis Blinks

Francis’ Exhortation is called Querida Amazonia, which means “Beloved Amazon”, and although it argues that “inculturation” is “necessary” for the Amazon people—and praises “indigenous expressions of religiosity”—it falls well short of the mark when it comes to the threatened ordination of women and married priests, causing the German bishops to accuse the pope of lacking the courage needed to truly “reform” the Church.
