Just over 80 people marched for life, in near-ideal weather for the season (overcast with no rain, and over 30 degrees of humidity, but acceptable for the time of year).
Walkers from all walks of life came together to walk for the unborn, and to bear witness to the amazement of passers-by, in a country that is decidedly lacking in the culture of demonstrations, to see children walking alongside the elderly, with our doyenne over 90 years old.
Our Lady accompanied us, with three priests from the Catholic tradition, as well as icons of Our Lady.
Two people went to confession on the sidelines, and a few non-Catholics discovered well-trained priests, large families and friendly, hard-working faithful – it was a lovely time for the apostolate.
This is the eleventh time we have walked in Tokyo, and the Covidian years have been a difficult time for the survival of the walk: but with the good Lord watching, a new start has been made.
The support of the March for Life in France was invaluable in demonstrating the legitimacy of our fight, and showing that people all over the world are fighting on this issue so important to the very survival of a healthy society, if not a society at all.
Japan has a minimum of 130,000 abortions a year (the official figure does not include morning-after pills, illegal abortions or babies who fall victim to in vitro fertilization and other “reproductive” technologies)… The cumulative number since 1946 exceeds 100 million, i.e. about the current population of Japan.

Against a backdrop of a frightening drop in the birth rate, which is now below 1 per in Tokyo, and a gross deficit of over 600,000 souls in the last two years, accelerating an already severe population decline, the pro-life battle for Japan is a matter of natural survival. Any Japanese of good will who doesn’t want to see his country simply disappear for lack of heirs should wake up.
Abortion, and everything that revolves around the culture of death, is a planned and massive attack on the family, on life, and on God’s work. Public resistance to this barely concealed massacre, which has killed billions of people worldwide since the Second World War, is the start of a healthy struggle to restore a healthy society.
An organization will be set up to step up a gear, mobilize the local Catholic hierarchy and bring together the few pro-life activities that exist here and there.
The major objectives will be to:
– publicly resist abortion, and save as many lives as possible by demonstrating to parents that abortion is never a good solution.
– to demand that the government and the state, in a context of fatal demographic decline, clearly prohibit abortion even for economic reasons, and ensure that doctors and other medical professions can no longer earn shameful money, as is the case today; at the same time to put in place real help to avoid abortion, and make it easier to build large families, while encouraging housewives in their mission, already publicly recognizing them as the nation’s most wonderful workers.
– to publicly repair a huge crime that is publicly encouraged, at the very least by turning a blind eye. Every public sin needs a public reparation: the vocation of our march is to naturally and supernaturally repair these enormous crimes, as a matter of justice.
– enable all defenders of life to get together and get to know each other, so as to collaborate better in the future, and be able to take more effective concrete action.
– federate internationally, realizing that this is a global battle, and that the same culture of death is invading the whole planet: in this way, we can collaborate better and more effectively with different international organizations.
All help is welcome, starting with prayer, then with your time, but also with your material support.
