Chinese Communists Burned by Euro-Marxist Population Control: When the Shi Hits the Feng

Most readers will have heard of the One-Child Policy in China. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) instituted this by fiat in 1980. (Government measures to control the population by draconian means had been in place since at least 1971, however.) But it soon learned that human nature trumps governmental ukase. Women and men keep having children, and—to the Party’s dismay—actually love them, no matter what the state says.

So, when the CCP realized that Chinese mothers and fathers were following their hearts instead of the Party line, it did what Communists always do in the face of reality. The CCP bathed the people in blood until reality bent to the Communists’ will. Forced sterilizations, gruesome forced abortions (with the dismembered child placed in a bucket next to the his or her mother as a “lesson” not to disobey the government), folk medicine abortions performed by ingesting poisonous insects, Chinese “doctors” pushing contraception willy-nilly—the horrors mounted daily.

Today the world is rightly concerned about China’s coming war on Taiwan, but let us admit that China has been at war with China, the Great In Utero Chinese Civil War, for at least the past four decades and longer.

Steven Mosher, the president of Population Research Institute, was a young researcher in China when the One Child Policy was ramping up before being officially declared. He was shocked by what he saw. In a 2012 Lancet article, Mosher writes:

In 1979, I was given the honour of being the first Western social scientist allowed to do extensive field research in China since the Communist revolution. From my vantage point, I was able to observe first-hand how the newly introduced one-child policy was being implemented.

The draconian campaign that I witnessed began by ordering young mothers to have abortions, arresting them when they refused, and incarcerating them under conditions of extreme psychological pressure. Those who still refused were physically dragged into the local medical clinic, where they were held down on the operating table while they were aborted and sterilised. Many of these women were in the third trimester of pregnancy. Indeed, some were already in labour.

Today the world is rightly concerned about China’s coming war on Taiwan, but let us admit that China has been at war with China, the Great In Utero Chinese Civil War, for at least the past four decades and longer. The death toll is staggering. The Chinese government’s own statistics, which are notoriously skewed for propaganda purposes, put the number at some 17.7 million abortions per year over the period 2015 to 2019. In 2013, the number killed in the Great In Utero Chinese Civil War surpassed—again on the Chinese government’s own statistics—the entire population of the United States.

Communism is death, period. Once people have learned it (or liberalism, for that matter), they will destroy themselves and one another.

And the end is not yet. As Mosher writes, even though the One Child Policy was officially lifted in 2015 in favor of a Two Child Policy, forced abortions continue. The Three Child Policy of 2021 seems not to have done the trick, either.

Why? Because Communism is death, period. Once people have learned it (or liberalism, for that matter), they will destroy themselves and one another. The CCP will never be able to stop the killing.

How it wishes now that it could, though! Recently, news items such as this one, from Breitbart in February of 2022, have begun to creep onto Western computer screens. “China To Actively Ban Teen Abortions As Birth Rate Collapses,” the headline reads. “The China Family Planning Association (CFPA) announced” in January 2022, the article continues (relying also on reporting from state-run Chinese media), that:

Special efforts will be made to address the reproductive health concerns of specific groups, and that there will be special campaigns to intervene in abortions among unmarried people and adolescents so as to tackle unwanted pregnancies and improve reproductive health.

The CFPA plans to launch a social media-based propaganda campaign to “strengthen guidance of young people’s views on marriage, love, and family, and reshape parenting culture to embrace multi-child families,” Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on February 10. “The new marriage and childbirth culture must be incorporated into village regulations, and content that is inconsistent with this must be revised,” the directive read.

The Communist Party edict comes after China’s demographic figures showed a sharp decline in the number of new marriage registrations among Chinese couples in recent years. The figure dropped from a “record high” of 13.47 million in 2013 to 8.143 million in 2020, Beijing’s Tsinghua University reported in February 2021.

“Data from 2005 to 2019 showed the proportion of [Chinese] marriage registrations by couples aged 20 to 24 decreased from 47.0 percent to 19.7 percent,” the Global Times noted at the time.

China’s fertility rate—defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica as “the average number of children born to women during their reproductive years”—has plummeted in recent years as well. China recorded a fertility rate of 1.3 per woman in 2020. […] “China’s natural population growth rate was only 0.034 percent for 2021, the lowest since 1960,” China Daily reported on January 19 citing official Chinese government data released on January 17.

Other news outlets have carried similar items. The same CCP mouthpiece cited above, Global Times, noted this August, for example, that seventeen different departments of the Chinese government had issued joint guidelines for promoting more births in China. In July, Western outlets reported that the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is forecasting that China’s population will fall by more than fifty percent by the end of the century.

Eugenics is an all-American invention, and governments worldwide, from Guatemala to Myanmar, Ethiopia to Bhutan, have learned the eugenics lesson and carried out campaigns of ethnic cleansing. Females in particular, and female babies most of all, have borne the brunt of the modern obsession with race and bloodlines.

This is all overtly racist, it should be stressed. The CCP is not worried about fertility per se, only Han Chinese fertility. Murderous tyrant Mao Zedong wanted there to be as many Han Chinese as possible so the Party would be strong. Mao probably knew that he had to replace the Han Chinese peasants that his romantic vision of communist utopias in the Chinese countryside killed by the scores of millions. The Party after Mao focused on keeping the surviving Han Chinese happy—making them rich—so they would not revolt against Beijing. But a new Mao is on the throne in the Forbidden City: Xi Jinping. And so we are back to the old Maoist rhetoric again. Xi has ramped up the expansion of Han Chinese into Tibet, East Turkestan, and Inner Mongolia. He has also over-extended the Chinese economy across Eurasia and into Africa. He needs people to carry out the Party’s ethnic cleansing in non-Han lands. He needs taxpayers to keep the Chinese economic pyramid scheme going. He also needs cannon fodder to fight the apocalyptic battle coming over Taiwan. In all of this, however, from Mao to Xi and everything in between, only two factors have ever mattered: the Han Chinese Party, and the Han Chinese masses. Those who are not Han Chinese remain under the same genocide protocols as before.

Of course, racist population measures are hardly a Chinese monopoly. China is also part of a larger Asian trend of falling fertility rates, a trend found also, of course, in Europe, the United States, and elsewhere in the world. So in these senses, China is just another modern disaster, like anywhere else.

Shi is a very difficult word to translate, but means something like “momentum” or “having the wind at one’s back,” or, more specifically to politics, the general lay of the strategic landscape in a contest between rival powers.

But what is striking in the Chinese case is that, while the People’s Republic of China has long been seen as “rising,” gaining strength and throwing its weight around more and more on the world stage, the rise appears to be a pyrrhic one. As China comes into its power, it reveals its hollow core.

In his book The Hundred-Year Marathon, American China scholar Michael Pillsbury highlights a key concept in Chinese political thinking: shi. Shi is a very difficult word to translate, but means something like “momentum” or “having the wind at one’s back,” or, more specifically to politics, the general lay of the strategic landscape in a contest between rival powers. I can sense from here in Japan exactly what the Chinese leadership is banking on—namely, that the shi is now in China’s favor, that circumstances have aligned to China’s advantage. It really does seem, looking from many angles, that China’s rise is inevitable, and so impossible to stop. The shi is manifest and waxing.

Feng means “fertility,” “fecundity,” “abundance.” The shi, in other words, has hit the feng.

But there’s another Chinese word that comes to mind, a word that Chinese leaders and other world governments seem to have forgotten: feng. Feng means “fertility,” “fecundity,” “abundance.” It’s what you get when crops come in lush, when a home is blessed with many children. It’s the happiness of God’s own increase, not the manmade substitute of the management state, the secularization of God’s bounty known as “communism.” Feng is a huge problem for China now. The CCP imported Euro-Marxist population control ideology and American-made eugenics programs. It rolled the dice on Western “experts” bellowing about the dire need to control the population. In doing so, China committed slow suicide. It ruined its fertility. And in doing this, it has probably also ruined its economic and geopolitical momentum.

The shi, in other words, has hit the feng.

No one understands this better than the CCP, and among that group none better than Xi Jinping. As scholars are beginning to recognize, Xi knows that time is not on his side. What comes next may be an accelerated warplan, a scramble to seize more territory while there are still young bodies to send out to die.

The adversary in this great conflict will be Washington, DC. But Americans should note that the CCP’s vision for humanity is the same as the Democrat Party’s: central planning, with death coordinated by and at the service of a handful of elites.

In news from another Communist country, the Vatican, in 2018 Bishop Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo—at the time head of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences—declared the People’s Republic of China the “best” when it comes to “implementing the social doctrine of the Church.”

This is not all. In news from another Communist country, the Vatican, in 2018 Bishop Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo—at the time head of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences—declared the People’s Republic of China the “best” when it comes to “implementing the social doctrine of the Church.” Pope Francis has proven to be a reliable ally of the Chinese Communist Party. Chinese Catholics appear to mean even less to Francis than they do to Xi.

China’s rise may be faltering, but the world will remain a very dark place for quite some time to come. China has already conquered, with its hateful, godless Communism, more of the planet than many of us realize.

And let us remember that the One Child Policy in China was invented conceptually in the Vatican’s shadow by a radical-socialist population-control group called the Club of Rome, as well as by the usual loons at American universities. China has merely bureaucratized the death that the West visits on itself, on Africa, on Asia, and on the entire world.
