As Men of Good Will Flee the Globalist Demons, Will They Find the True Faith?

As Michael Matt discussed in his recent Remnant Underground, the growing globalist tyranny has convinced countless people that we are in the midst of a decisive spiritual battle and must turn to God. Tragically, most of these souls may never find the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, to which we all must belong, precisely because the tyrannical enemies of God had to undermine the Church to carry out their globalist designs. The small remnant of Catholics who still have the Faith must therefore strive to be the light of the world that attracts those of good will.

To do so does not require any innovation — we simply have to do what Catholics have always been called to do: maintain the unadulterated Catholic Faith; be willing to make sacrifices for priests and the traditional Sacraments; have absolute confidence in God; practice devotion to Our Lady; fight to win the spiritual battle; and resist unjust efforts to force us to compromise.

Maintain the Unadulterated Catholic Faith. God has given us the inestimable treasure of having the Catholic Faith. Our Faith is simple enough for a child to learn and follow and yet contains so much richness and beauty that even the greatest theologians could never grow weary of learning more about it. The great tragedy of our time is that those who have the duty to safeguard and propagate the Catholic truth have become the greatest enemies of the Faith. These innovators have convinced many Catholics that they can pick and choose which Catholic truths to believe whereas, as Leo XIII wrote in Satis Cognitum, we cannot reject any Catholic truth:

“[Christ] willed and ordered, under the gravest penalties, that [the Church’s] teachings should be received as if they were His own. As often, therefore, as it is declared on the authority of this teaching that this or that is contained in the deposit of divine revelation, it must be believed by every one as true. If it could in any way be false, an evident contradiction follows; for then God Himself would be the author of error in man. . . . In this wise, all cause for doubting being removed, can it be lawful for anyone to reject any one of those truths without by the very fact falling into heresy? — without separating himself from the Church? — without repudiating in one sweeping act the whole of Christian teaching? For such is the nature of faith that nothing can be more absurd than to accept some things and reject others.”

Our faithless shepherds have tried to convince us that these words no longer apply. Blind obedience to those faithless shepherds has contributed greatly to the current crisis in the Church, and it should be obvious at this point that those who have resisted the “Spirit of Vatican II” in various ways have preserved the true Faith. If these defenders of Catholic tradition had instead capitulated to the unholy and unjust demands of those who wish to destroy the Church, we would not have the Tridentine Mass or any semblance of the unadulterated Catholic Faith. The gates of hell would have thus prevailed were it not for God giving these Traditional Catholics the grace to maintain the unadulterated Catholic Faith.

If Catholics are forced to choose between honoring God and defending the immutable Catholic Faith on the one hand, and following the blasphemous and tyrannical whims of a pope or bishop on the other, we must side with God.

Be Willing to Make Sacrifices for Priests and the Traditional Sacraments. The authentic Catholic Sacraments are the pearl of great price in our fallen world. In his Mementoes of the English Martyrs, Fr. Henry Sebastion Bowden (1836-1919) included the letter of a missionary priest in England who offered Mass under the penal laws, showing the great love England’s Catholics had for the priests and Sacraments:

“When a priest comes to their houses they first salute him as a stranger unknown them, and then they take him to an inner chamber where an oratory is set up, when all fall on their knees and beg his blessing. If he says he must go tomorrow, as he usually does, for it is dangerous to stay longer, then all prepare for Confession that evening. The next morning they hear Mass and receive Holy Communion; then after preaching, and giving his blessing a second time, the priest departs, conducted by one of the young gentlemen (that is of the Catholic Association). No one is to be found to complain of the length of the Services. If the Mass does not last nearly an hour many are discontented. If six, eight, or more Masses are said in the same place, and in the same day (as often happens when there is a meeting of priests), the same congregation will assist at all. When they can get priests they confess every week.” (from January 27)

As we learned during the lockdowns, most of us can have no real certainty that we will have ready access to the Sacraments in the future. In this regard, we are in a situation similar to that of the Catholics in England who suffered under the penal laws, which should inspire us with a great desire to take fullest advantage of the Sacraments while we have them.

Have Absolute Confidence in God. In his pastoral letter from several years ago (which is well worth reading in its entirety), Fr. Jaques Emily described the great dangers to our salvation in these perilous times, but ended with an appeal for us to find courage through our confident dependence upon God’s graces:

“Well, My dear Friends, it is now time for me to conclude this already too long letter and to recommend you again a greater vigilance in these troubled times for your souls and for the souls of your children. Our souls are, indeed, in greater danger in these days of the last times, but let us not be discouraged and let us not forget that God in His infinite mercy will give us even more abundant graces to overcome this tremendous difficulty. He promised that He will never let us be tempted beyond our strength, and Saint Paul reassures us that: ‘where the offense has abounded, grace has abounded yet more’ (Rom. 5. 20). Go then with confidence to this source of graces which is the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and He will pour His mercies in abundance upon your souls.”

God is permitting the great crisis in the Church and world and wants us to cooperate with His grace to use these trials to honor Him and sanctify our souls. If He loves us so much to permit this crisis, we must have absolute confidence that He will guide us through it if we place all our trust in Him. God created us for these times and will give us all the graces we need to honor Him and save our souls.

Francis and his collaborators come in the clothing of sheep so we must consider the fruits they offer: the blasphemous Synod on Synodality, worldwide apostasy, unprecedented corruption, secretive deals with China that terrorize Chinese Catholics, LGTBQ madness, Covid tyranny.

Practice Devotion to Our Lady. God has given us special assistance in these troubling times in the form of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Those who say the daily Rosary know with certainty that Pius XI was correct in calling the Rosary a powerful weapon against the demons:

“The Rosary is a powerful weapon to put the demons to flight and keep oneself from sin . . . If you desire peace in your hearts, in your homes, and in your country, assemble each evening to recite the Rosary. Let not even one day pass without saying it, no matter how burdened you may be with many cares and labors.” (from Pius XI’s Ingravescentibus Malis, on the Rosary)

Devotion to Our Lady may seem foolish to the men of the world because they cannot imagine that God would use something so simple to lead us to Christ. But, as St. Pius X wrote in his encyclical on the Immaculate Conception, Ad Diem Illum Laetissimum, the fact that God gave Mary such a vital role in introducing the Redeemer to the world should convince us that He would give her an important role in leading us to her Son:

“Could not God have given us, in another way than through the Virgin the Redeemer of the human race and the Founder of the Faith? But, since Divine Providence has been pleased that we should have the Man-God through Mary, who conceived Him by the Holy Ghost and bore Him in her breast, it only remains for us to receive Christ from the hands of Mary.”

How can we doubt this unless we imagine that God carelessly chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the Mother of God? It is far more sensible to realize that the fitting remedy for the filth and infidelity that pervades our world is devotion to the absolutely pure and perfectly faithful Blessed Virgin Mary, whose example provides inexhaustible inspiration for those who seek God above all else.

Fight to Win the Spiritual Battle. Since the time of the Apostles, all Christians have known that we must engage in the spiritual battle to save our souls. As St. Paul wrote, we must put on the armor of God:

“Put you on the armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” (Ephesians 6:10-11)

Today we recognize this in a special way as we witness Satan devouring souls with such ferocity that only a fool would take his salvation for granted. Although that should suffice to inspire us to all pursue sanctity, God has given us another pressing motivation: we realize that our only real hope for defending our families and communities resides in trying to be saints. The emasculating influence of Vatican II seems to have convinced many men that the pursuit of piety was effeminate; today, though, most real Catholic men are opening their eyes to see that the most virile heroes in the world are, and have always been, those who understand that they are nothing without God.

If they persecute us for doing this, Deo Gratias! We will then have the great blessing of following the example of the saints who willingly carried their crosses to faithfully transmit the Faith that will lead us to Heaven so long as we never let go of it.

Resist Unjust Efforts to Force Us to Compromise. Francis has spent his entire occupation of the papacy attempting to destroy the Catholic Church, and rumors suggest that he will soon impose further restrictions on the traditional Sacraments. This is the same man who partners with the globalists to mandate ineffective and dangerous vaccines and promote tyrannical climate change controls; he is the same man who, in the name of unholy brotherhood, embraces all religions other than actual Catholicism; and he is the man who now routinely advances the LGTBQ agenda. He could not successfully conduct these attacks on the Church and world without the obsequious cooperation of otherwise faithful Catholics who know better.

If Catholics are forced to choose between honoring God and defending the immutable Catholic Faith on the one hand, and following the blasphemous and tyrannical whims of a pope or bishop on the other, we must side with God. Those who argue that Catholics must “worship in union with their bishops,” when such bishops abandon Christ to worship the Church’s enemies, are either malicious or spiritually blind, and must be ignored if they cannot be corrected. Such a mentality makes a mockery of God because it suggests that we must abandon His Truth to follow false shepherds. If He wanted us to do that, He would not have explicitly told us to avoid doing it:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.” (Matthew 7:15-17)

Francis and his collaborators come in the clothing of sheep so we must consider the fruits they offer: the blasphemous Synod on Synodality, worldwide apostasy, unprecedented corruption, secretive deals with China that terrorize Chinese Catholics, LGTBQ madness, Covid tyranny, and attacks on what the saints have always believed and practiced. Those who side with Francis and his fellow destroyers are mocking God and will be rewarded accordingly.

Those of us who instead seek to honor God and save our souls should do all we can to let our "light shine before men” (Matthew 5:16) so that all men of good will who flee the globalist demons might recognize that we can offer them the Faith God wants all men to have. If they persecute us for doing this, Deo Gratias! We will then have the great blessing of following the example of the saints who willingly carried their crosses to faithfully transmit the Faith that will lead us to Heaven so long as we never let go of it. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
