Removal of a number of statues and other smaller Catholic icons from the campus of San Domenico School in San Anselmo has raised concern among parents.

marinij.com; POSTED: : In an email to the school’s board of directors, Dominican Sisters of San Rafael and the head of school, Shannon Fitzpatrick objected to the removal of the statues and other steps the school has taken in an effort to make the school more inclusive.

“Articulating an inclusive foundation appears to mean letting go of San Domenico’s 167-year tradition as a Dominican Catholic school and being both afraid and ashamed to celebrate one’s heritage and beliefs,” wrote Fitzpatrick, whose 8-year-old son attends the school.

She added, “In our time here, the word ‘Catholic’ has been removed from the mission statement, sacraments were removed from the curriculum, the lower school curriculum was changed to world religions, the logo and colors were changed to be ‘less Catholic,’ and the uniform was changed to be less Catholic.”

Responding to follow-up questions Monday, Fitzpatrick wrote, “There are other families having the same concerns I do. Many parents feel if the school is heading in a different direction then the San Domenico community should have been notified before the signing of the enrollment for the following year.”

The removal of these statues points to a more serious problem, with the school’s philosophy director:

Mirza Khan, the school’s director of philosophy, ethics and world religions, said, “The Dominican teaching philosophy is not to teach there is only one truth. It is to foster conversation, to intentionally invite in participants that have different perspectives in a very open-ended process of philosophical and spiritual inquiry. That has been a long-standing part of the Dominican tradition.”

Khan, whose father and grandfather were Sufi teachers in India, received a bachelor’s degree in comparative religion at Bard College. Before becoming a teacher at San Domenico about 10 years ago, he worked as a research assistant to a professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Khan said during his time in Jerusalem he got to see first-hand how devastating it can be when religions are in conflict.

REMNANT COMMENT: And Jesus said to them:  "For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him the Son of man shall be ashamed, when he shall come in his majesty, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels." Luke 9:26

For fifty years, Catholics have been subjected to a protestantized liturgy...what even Pope Benedict XVI referred to as a "trivialized liturgy."  As you pray is how you will believe, and we've been praying like Protestants. Time to get rid of the crucifixes and statues, just as the Protestants did. Catholics are becoming de facto Protestants.

Well played, Vatican II.

CNN reports that the rate of child suicides--aged 5 through 12--has taken a tragic leap in recent years:

Suicides among US children under 13 are rare, but perhaps more frequent than you think…

More than 1,300 dead since 1999

From 1999 through 2015, 1,309 children ages 5 to 12 took their own lives in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says…

That means one child under 13 died of suicide nearly every five days, on average, over those 17 years.

The frequency was higher from 2013 to 2015 -- once every 3.4 days -- thanks mostly to a 54% spike in the suicides of 11- and 12-year-olds compared to the three years prior. That jibes with the CDC's announcement of a recent rise in suicide rates in ages 10-14.

Still, some perspective: Suicides before the teen years are infrequent compared to other groups.

There were 0.31 suicides per 100,000 children ages 5-12 during those 17 years. Compare that to 7.04 suicides per 100,000 people ages 13-18, or 17.39 per 100,000 for ages 18 to 65.

Child suicide rates rise with age. But, yes, the CDC has recorded suicides of 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds. From 1999 to 2015 (the most recent year for data), those numbers were two, four and eight, respectively.

REMNANT COMMENT: This is distressing beyond words. What is happening to us? We're increasingly violent towards one another. We're losing any sense of goodness and decency. We hurt kids. We hurt ourselves. We hate God.

The family—the basic unit of society—is in more evident collapse today than perhaps at any other time in human history.  It is broken seemingly beyond repair.

So with God banished, morality branded ‘hate speech’ and families largely dysfunctional, we "enlightened ones" are fast becoming the most benighted people in history. Even our children can no longer stand the darkness of our Enlightenment.

And we're so terribly good at Death. We exterminate millions in the womb. We've developed bigger and better killing machines that can slaughter untold numbers in far off lands with the push of a button. We’re expert at ‘taking people out’—whether it be babies, the crippled,  the elderly. You name it, we're history's most proficient executioner.

And now that we've told God to go to Hell and messed up the family beyond recognition, even our little kids want out.

I wonder if there has ever been a time in human history when little children were taking their lives at the rate ours are today. Historians are not shy about trying to "gross us out" with the sordid details of pagan Rome’s depravity; and yet I don't remember reading anything about measurable suicide rates among 10-year-olds in old Rome.  I have a feeling we may hold the record on that, just as we hold that of the number of babies slaughtered by their own moms.

And the worst of it is that we're so dumbed down we don't even know how mind-numbingly stupid we are. We still think we’re "progressive", despite a mountain of evidence to suggest the opposite: that—socially, morally, humanly speaking—we’re the most backward, backwater hicks in history. To call us “pagans” would be to insult the pagans, who certainly had religion, believed in a god, and revered marriage and the family. History’s average pagan was a daily communicant compared to what we've become today. Don't believe me?  Turn on the news tonight.

We have no God. We have no history we care to study. We have no stories to tell our children. We have no dreams. We're angry, fat, selfish, murderous and now suicidal.

And yet we still imagine ourselves to have evolved.  We've moved beyond the Dark Ages of Faith.  We know what is good and what is evil — like those Confederate gentlemen whose statues we’re tearing down.  We sit in judgment of them because we occupy the moral high ground. Why shouldn’t we be history’s judge and jury?  We have Google, digital porn, Snapchat and Twitter!

Life if better now than ever before, and people are happier now than they ever were.  Just ask one of those little kids... before he commits suicide.

God help us all. We are our own chastisement!

A petition is circulating to rename the racisit Margaret Sanger Square in New York City:

Since Americans are expressing their anger at historical figures with racist legacies, it is high time that 'Margaret Sanger Square' be renamed. Sanger was the founder of Planned Parenthood, a murderous organization which has aborted over 60 million unborn babies, mostly African-American children. Sanger once referred to African Americans as "human weeds".

It needs 99,924 signatures by September 14, 2017, in order to get a response from the White House.

REMNANT COMMENT:  The woman is straight up creepy, too.  But besides that, I'm offended by her racism, her hate and her genocidal campaign against my species.  I'm quite sure our friends on the Left will hop to it and rename that Square now that they know how deeply offended I am by this. Isn't that how it works?  Anyway, check this nutter out:

Just on the heels of Politico's blockbuster expose of the radical Southern Poverty Law Center, Tucker Carlson of the Fox News Channel hosted the Family Research Channel's Tony Perkins to talk about the SPLC's highly questionable tactics in labeling Christian and pro-family organizations as 'hate groups' – many appearing on the SPLC's ridiculous (but dangerous) hate map right alongside actual haters such as the KKK and the Neo-Nazis.

Did you know that James T. Hodgkinson, the shooter who targeted Republicans at a congressional baseball game practice and nearly killed Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.), gave moral support to the Southern Poverty Law Center? The SPLC had repeatedly attacked Scalise, along with former presidential candidate Ben Carson and women's right activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

Watch Carlson and Perkins dismantle what’s fast becoming not only the largest hate group in America but also the most egregious purveyor of dangerous Fake News in the world today – the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Tell #FakeNewsCNN to stop putting AFA in danger

(American Family Association) This week, CNN listed the American Family Association as a "hate group" in a sham news article that could easily incite violence and place AFA employees and supporters in harm's way. CNN has since issued a correction and removed AFA by name off their website. Instead, CNN links to the Southern Poverty Law Center website which falsely lists AFA as a "hate group."

AFA is urging CNN to stop using the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a source when reporting real news. The SPLC is a radical organization and its hateful rhetoric was implicated in a 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council's headquarters in Washington, D.C..

By citing the SPLC, CNN underscores why many Americans don't trust it for honest reporting. The SPLC has been widely discredited over the years because of its false labeling of Christian organizations as "hate groups." In fact, even the liberal Obama Department of Justice quietly reprimanded SPLC and its attorneys because their conduct "overstepped the bounds of zealous advocacy and was unprofessional."

Many remember when the SPLC placed world renowned neurosurgeon, Dr. Ben Carson, on an "extremist" watch list. Why did they do this? Because Dr. Carson believes that marriage is between one man and one woman. READ MORE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: While The Remnant denounces and condemns all actual hate groups (such as the Neo-Nazis, the KKK and the SPLC), we call upon all pro-life, pro-family, pro-Christian organizations targeted by the SPLC to unite against these dangerous purveyors of Fake News here in the country we all love. We support the AFA's call for justice, and we encourage our readers to sign the AFA petition to CNN, urging that network to stop using the Southern Poverty Law Center as a resource.

If Christians do not stand up for themselves against this orchestrated and Christophobic witch hunt, nobody will.

Amid protests from the usual suspects, the Trump Administration nixed $213M from Teen Pregnancy Prevention, all by itself. Here's how LifeSite says it went down:

President Donald Trump recently cut funding to a questionable teen pregnancy prevention program that has given millions of dollars to the abortion business Planned Parenthood.

The Hill reports pro-abortion President Barack Obama created the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program in 2010 to teach vulnerable populations of students about preventing pregnancy.

Participants in the program recently learned that their grant funding will end next year, two years sooner than expected, according to the report. Trump’s administration notified the 81 grant recipients that funding for the program is being cut by about $200 million and their grants will end on June 30, 2018, the report states.

Among the groups receiving grants to teach sex education are several Planned Parenthood affiliates.

The program administrators awarded an annual $1 million grant to Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands to target rural teens.

The abortion group said it uses the funds to “reduce teen pregnancy rates, increase use of contraceptives and delay initiation of sexual activity among ninth- to 12th-grade youth in rural Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Hawaii.”

Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, as well as Planned Parenthood of the Heartland also received grants of nearly $1 million each annually to promote their sex agenda to teens.

Health and Human Services Department spokesman Mark Vafiades told the New York Times that there is very little evidence that the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program is working.

Vafiades said the evidence of a positive impact is “very weak,” and the Trump administration wants to support a program that “provides youth with the information and skills they need to avoid the many risks associated with teen sex.”

Democrats and abortion activists are upset by the cuts, and are sending letters to HHS Secretary Tom Price in protest. Many speculate that the cuts could mean Trump’s administration will support abstinence-based programs instead…

REMNANT COMMENT: …

La Croix recently reported that women are assuming critical roles within multiple German diocese:

Fifteen years ago, Daniela Engelhard became the first woman to take overall responsibility for pastoral work in the Diocese of Osnabrück in north-west Germany. Today there are ten women holding similar positions in different German dioceses.

The German Bishops Conference (DBK) welcomed the fact that its target of 40% of women in posts as directors of pastoral work has been achieved, it said in a statement published on July 31.

At the moment, the 27 German dioceses now have a woman as the head of their pastoral work departments. The women are responsible for “multiple fields of pastoral work".

These include restructuring pastoral zones, accompanying couples and families but also emergency aid, migrant pastoral care as well as interreligious dialogue…

…Daniela Engelhard told La Croix that she strives to develop within the Church “new forms of more participative and community-based work” as well as “new ways of speaking about faith”. She believes in “turning our attention less towards the limitations than the opportunities".

Xavierian Sister Gudrun Steiss, who studied pastoral catechetics and interreligious dialogue at the Catholic Institute of Paris, is now director of pastoral work in Hamburg.

Her work priorities include studying “how administrative functions could better serve pastoral needs", improve “the culture of communication and decision making in the Diocese of Hamburg and in the German Church".

She also aims to turn “the relative wealth of the [German Church] into an opportunity".

Members of Bishops committees

All these women are also “members of the executive bodies of their dioceses and the bishops’ councils", the DBK said in its statement.

And “many of them also bring their theological and pastoral competence to one of the fourteen committees of the German Bishops Conference".

REMNANT COMMENT:

Last week cruxnow.com reported that on Amoris guidelines, Brazil's conference of bishops is leaving sacraments open for divorced and remarried Catholics.

SÃO PAULO, Brazil - The Brazilian Bishops’ National Conference did not close the door that leads to the sacraments for divorced and remarried couples.

In a pastoral guide to Amoris Laetitia, the bishops said that, even though Pope Francis’s apostolic exhortation reaffirms the indissolubility of marriage, it also notes that “conditioning factors and extenuating circumstances” may “attenuate or even annul the moral responsibility and imputability of unlawful acts.”

The 28-page document entitled Welcoming the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia by the Church in Brazil was released late last week. It was elaborated by the conference’s staff after discussions of Francis’s document on the family during the bishops’ 55th Ordinary General Assembly, which took place April 26 to May 5, 2017.

Brazil’s bishops affirm that Francis’s apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitiaavoids a “normative pronouncement” on cases like those of divorced and remarried people. “The apostolic exhortation does not present a guide for the discernment of the so-called irregular cases,” says paragraph 37. Instead, Amoris “reinforces the need of a pastoral attention that is really particularized.”

The document argues that Amoris is not a rupture with previous Church teaching, but a development. “Nothing more contrary to the content of Chapter VIII of Amoris Laetitia than the idea of a moral relativism or even situational morality. On the contrary, it reaffirms the doctrine about the indissolubility of marriage and the intrinsic malice of adultery,” says paragraph 39.

As it follows, the text calls on pastors to “enter” in concrete cases, “finding the proper way to help the formation of the faithful’s conscience.” Read the rest HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: What more do people need to see? Francis destroyed Catholic marriage and nobody cares. They would rather have Church-approved divorce. And the "faithful" sit there and let their marriages get undermined by the man who claims the keys.

The Daily Caller reports that Facebook and Google were “premier sponsors” for a left-wing protest last Saturday, which targeted a Human Coalition clinic for being “pro-life” and “successful”:

"Two of the most powerful companies in the world are co-sponsoring a protest against a pro-life women’s health care clinic that provides free medical services and counseling to pregnant women — just not abortions.

Facebook and Google are co-sponsoring Netroots Nation, an annual gathering of progressive activists and political leaders that is targeting a pro-life organization, Human Coalition, and the health care clinics they operate under the name Cura, which provide free medical services and counseling for women with unplanned pregnancies. The protest’s organizers claim two primary motivations for going after Human Coalition’s clinics: they’re pro-life, and they’re successful. (RELATED: ‘Betrayal’ — Left-Wingers Furious With Democrats’ Support For Pro-Life Candidates)

Netroots’ official agenda has the protest scheduled for Saturday at noon, immediately following one event featuring Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and shortly before another event featuring former Vice President Al Gore. Google and Facebook are listed as “premier sponsors” of Netroots, alongside far-left organizations like Planned Parenthood.

Saturday’s protest pits activists backed by two of the top four most valuable brands in the world against a small but effective organization that describes itself as both pro-women and pro-child.

Pro-abortion group Reproaction will lead Saturday’s protest against Human Coalition. Reproaction claims Human Coalition’s health center is a “fake clinic” because — unlike, say, Planned Parenthood — they don’t perform abortions. The protest is titled, “Get Fake Clinics Out Of Atlanta!” Read More HERE

REMNANT COMMENT:  Like I said last week... New Gestapo Rising: Social Media's Christian Purge

1984

pope trump obama

Francis Fatigue is setting in even over at Fox News:

Under Pope Francis, the church has abandoned many of its bedrock positions on issues like divorce and homosexuality in favor of a “why not?” attitude. Francis has scolded people for being rich, sided with illegal immigrants, and suggested the church should be a refuge for the poor.

He has sidelined conservative cardinals, installed like-minded allies in key jobs, taken personal control of the Knights of Malta for defying him, and generally sent the signal that behind his amiable smile and humble talk lurks a radically liberal agenda.

The latest example of the pope’s blueprint for the future is contained in an article penned by two of his closest confidantes. They believe that conservative Catholics in the United States have formed a coalition with Evangelical Protestants to push Donald Trump’s agenda, which the authors call a “Manichean vision.” The article, in the Jesuit publication La Civiltà Cattolica, could not have been printed without Francis’s knowledge and approval.

The pope left little doubt about his feelings toward Trump when the president and first lady visited the Vatican earlier this year. In their joint photo, Francis frowns as if he smelled something bad in the room.

REMNANT COMMENT: Houston, we've got a problem! Let's be clear: This has little to do with Donald Trump the man.  In fact, for the purposes of today’s Remnant Comment it makes little difference whether you like him, hate him, or are entirely indifferent to the man.  For just a moment, let's climb out of the pigeonholes into which our handlers have consigned us and consider the bigger picture of what's really going on here.

Trump was elected by a disenfranchised electorate of more or less pro-family, pro-life, pro-God Americans. Right? Can we all agree on that much?  Voting for Donald Trump was an eleventh hour decision made by those of us who've had it up to here with the utopian dreams (and Orwellian nightmares) of a political elite hell-bent on destroying our way of life.

We didn’t mistake the twice-divorced New York billionaire for one of us—as some daily communicant, ready to inspire the masses to rise up against the God-hating tyrants. The man still seems a bit stunned, in fact, by the world-wide and rabid opposition with which he's now confronted and which, let’s face it, he never saw coming.  It's not as if he's some Garcia Moreno figure out there shouting allegiance to Christ the King on the White House lawn. And yet still they hate him. Why?

Trump didn't start this fire—a fire which even the Vatican is now trying to extinguish. So, who did?

Answer that correctly and you’ll understand why they hate him.

What's left of a decent, God-fearing America started the fire, and since Trump has more money than God, and managed to find a way to win the Whitehouse sans blessing or permission from the phony-baloney two-party system, he's emerged as the de facto leader of the Basket of Deplorables.  And this is why he finds himself in some pretty unlikely crosshairs. Everyone from the European Union, to the United Nations to the Vatican sees Trump as a man who needs to be eliminated.

The conservative Never Trumpers should actually be grateful to Trump for, if nothing else, having ripped the mask off the farcical Republican "conservative" who’s been winning elections for decades just by unscrupulously exploiting pro-life America. That guy is just as much a Never Trumper as the rabid Leftist.

In a general sense, Trump reminds me of Francois Athanase de Charette de la Contrie, the Royalist soldier and politician who rose to prominence in the Vendee during the French Revolution.  With his mistresses and lax faith, Charette, like Trump, was no saint. Hiding beneath his bed, in fact, he had to be practically dragged into service by the Vendean peasants—regular, God-fearing folks in desperate need of a professional military man to lead them against the destroyers of their entire way of life who were enforcing “liberty” at the point of a gun.

So Charette—the flawed human being—nevertheless found himself leading the Royal and Catholic Army against the sons of the Enlightenment who’d beheaded Catholic France—kings, queens, priests and nuns. (If any reader still believes in the old fairy tales for adults about that most Christophobic Revolution they may wish to watch this short reenactment of the historical slaughter of the Carmelites, and ask yourself why the "Enlightened champions of liberty" needed to behead Catholics in the name of Liberty, or read the full story HERE)

.be">
.be

The longer Charette fought against the very Revolution he'd once defended in the New World as an officer in the Royal Navy, the more he came to recognize the abject evil his Catholic army (the original 'basket of deplorables') was up against.

Once he'd seen through the slogans and phony rhetoric about Liberty, he realized there could be no compromise with the devils behind the mask.  And while we have no idea where Trump's battle against the same resident evil will take him, it's interesting that Charette (the sinner) ended up dying a martyr's death rather than continue to bow to the Revolution that had grown to despise him once he'd agreed to fight for the regular, God-fearing folks.

The parallel between the two men is far from perfect, admittedly. Charette was a Catholic, while Trump is far from it.  But perhaps it will prompt us to pray for President Trump’s conversion, now that he too is experiencing the wrath of the Chirstophobes firsthand.

But, again, it was the decent, family-loving, gun-toting, Bible-packing “deplorables” of western France (the heartland) who needed Charette—a man who knew the art of war—to lead them against the Anti-Christians of their day. Charette knew who the real enemy of the people was since he'd once been one of them. When he finally turned against them he became the hand of God.

Will Trump unequivocally turn against his old friends in Washington and New York who’ve now come to hate him almost as much as they hate us? It’s a long shot, but we’ll have to wait and see. His only hope of success lies in his commitment to the “peasants” who put him where he is now.  Even the Vatican is standing against him. And what I fear is that Pope Francis and his Leftist pals are targeting not Trump (not Charette) but us—the people, the peasants—who are refusing to sign on with the champions of Liberty and a Godless New World Order.

The Hollywood left, demon Democrats, United Nations wackos, sustainable development megalomaniacs---they're all down with Pope Francis now. There's no conspiracy theorizing about it, as this news report from the secularist Fox News makes abundantly clear. The question is, what are we going to do now that it's clear—to our shock and disbelief—that our father in Rome has sided with them?  Do we continue to play "let's pretend"? Or do we stand up, prayerfully, and resist him to his face even as Paul resisted Peter to his? It’s a horrific choice, admittedly, but it’s the only one we have.

Francis doesn’t have to endorse Donald Trump. We get that. But for him to turn on the pro-life, pro-family, pro-God “basket of deplorables” who voted him in as a last-ditch defensive measure against the Anti-Christians, is, to say the least, telling indeed.

Our neo-Catholic friends can stay in denial where Francis is concerned if they wish and as they see fit. We understand their fear of reading the terrible handwriting on the wall. We don't like what it says any more than they do, but that doesn't change the meaning of the words. Sooner or later, we're all going to have to make a choice: Do we remain Catholic, even if that means being more Catholic than the Pope, or do we apostatize along with everybody else?  There is no other alternative.

May God give us the courage (and the faith) to choose wisely.

USA Today reports that at least 14 priests and other afiliates of the Catholic Church, formerly and currently stationed on the island of Guam, are being accused of sexually molesting nearly 100 children. The accusations span the years of 1955 through 1994:

...Archbishop Anthony Apuron, 13 Guam priests and others, including a Catholic schoolteacher, a Catholic school janitor  and a Boy Scout leader, are alleged to be sexual predators. Guam's Archdiocese of Agana is a defendant in 96 lawsuits. The complaints detail alleged attacks from 1955 through 1994 and claim some religious leaders knew of the exploitation and ignored it. One retired priest, who admitted in an affidavit that he sexually abused 20 or more boys, still receives a monthly stipend from the archdiocese. The accusations also ensnare the Boy Scouts of America, where that priest also served as a scoutmaster. The scouting group is named as a co-defendant in 52 lawsuits...

...In June 2016, Pope Francis suspended Apuron, who has since been accused in four lawsuits of sexually abusing four altar boys in the 1970s. The Vatican is now trying him in a secret procedure that could lead to him being dismissed from the clergy, also known as being laicized. Apuron is among the highest-ranking church officials to be tried by the Vatican for sexual wrongdoings.

Apuron has denied the abuse charges via statements on video and through written statements issued by the archdiocese. His attorney has filed motions to dismiss lawsuits against him. Apuron’s Vatican trial is “very, very rare, and the reason it’s rare is because the Vatican or the popes have protected the bishops,” says Dominican priest Tom Doyle, a specialist in canon, or church, law who advocates for abuse victims.  “They consider them to be the most important part of the church, so they protect them, no matter what they’ve done."  Read the report in its entirety HERE, but be forewarned that it contains graphic details.

REMNANT COMMENT: Okay, so it just keeps coming—the conciliarist sewage. We'll have to wait and see who's guilty and who's not, of course, but either way, Holy Mother Church ends up with another black eye.

Isn't this New Springtime of Vatican II awesome!  I mean, really, it’s just working out so well.

I know, we just need to look at that date, our Neo-Catholics friends will rush to point out. Why it says 1955--a whopping ten years before the close of Vatican II.  So we surely can't blame this one on the New Orientation of the Church of Vatican II. No, sir! This is just the way it always was, and it has nothing to do with homosexual recruitment in the seminaries (which was all the rage in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s).  It has nothing to do with the New Mass--a thoroughly emasculated liturgy that depends on thoroughly emasculated men to really give it its liturgical WOW factor.

And this ongoing destruction of the Catholic priesthood, which this story highlights once again—certainly has nothing to do with the fact that they ripped out the Communion rails, filled the sanctuaries (sorry, gathering space) with poofters, women and kids, and knocked out the old confessionals (so now Father gets to get real cozy with the penitents). Oh, sure, the sacrality of the priesthood was dramatically minimized and the "priesthood of the laity" maximized—but this is much better than it was in those old dark ages when priests ascended steps to the altar and led their flocks in the worship of Almighty God.

YUCK!  Where’s the active participation in THAT!  That’s no fun at all! What about me?!

Nope! There's no connection between all that and the massive scandals in the priesthood. None whatsoever!  And anyway, the Neo-Catholics like the Mass the way they remember it, way back when the Brady Bunch was still on TV. In fact, they like the Mass to look and feel very much like the Brady Bunch--happy, sappy and clappy!  They like Father Bob to be approachable (something like Mike Brady, come to think of it). They like to participate---and they like to watch others participate--you know, with guitars and dancing and all that.

The last thing they want is to go back to a sacred and separated priesthood according the Order of Melchizedek, the holy of holies sanctuaries, Latin Masses, priests facing God (rather than the people) as had been done for more than a thousand years. No, not for them. All this new & improved Protestant-styled liturgy is just part of the Church’s grand and glorious evolution to bigger and better things.  And as all this rockin' and rollin' evolving goes on, we Catholics need to pray and obey and just ignore the fact that the human element of the Church is falling down all around us, that homosexuals are invading not only the priesthood but now the episcopacy itself, and that kids are being molested by priests and whatever butch nuns are still driving around in those cool litlte Priuses of theirs.

Sure, most Catholics don't even bother going to Mass anymore (do you blame them?) and the Catholic Church has all the moral authority of the Mikey Mouse Club---but we're getting accompanied now, we got mercy---and, besides, the Church was always in crisis. And all we need now is just a little more time to unpack the Theology of the Body Bags and we’ll be good to go.

It's all good.  Why? Because the Neo-Catholics say it is! And to suggest otherwise would only mean the Traditionalists were right all along….and we can’t have that!
 No, everything is awesome!

I know, my bad, I’m sorry-- my tone....
it’s just too darn harsh. And I feel just terrible about that. Really I do!
