This from The St. Louis Review--the official archdiocesan newspaper of St. Louis, MO: 'Mysterium tremendum' | St. Barnabas begins offering the Traditional Latin Mass...

With a single intoning of the bell, Mass had begun at St. Barnabas. But this was no Ordinary Form of the Mass.

"In Nomine Patris, et Filii et Spiritus Sancti ..."

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the Extraordinary Form of the Mass -- better known as the Traditional or Tridentine Latin Mass -- is being celebrated at the northern O'Fallon parish. In January, Father Raymond Hager began offering the Mass at 10 a.m. on Sundays, after a group of parishioners wrote a letter last January requesting it.

At one of the first Masses, the pews in the modest church were about three quarters full with at least 300 people -- the church seats about 450; the parking lot was nearly filled to capacity. There was a mixture of young and old, middle-aged -- some who had lived in the boundaries of St. Barnabas but attended the Latin Mass at other churches, and some who were new or had not participated in this form of the Mass since before the Second Vatican Council. Some had come from nearby communities including Warrenton, Millwood and Wright City.

"At the first Mass, people had tears in their eyes," said Father Hager. He said that all of this is "directed toward God and what's called the 'mysterium tremendum,' or the tremendous mystery. The sense of the sacred, and the mystery of God becoming present in His most sacred Body and Blood is proclaimed profoundly in and through the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.  READ STORY HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Our apologies for missing this encouraging development in St. Louis which was reported in a glorious St. Louis Review centerfold lift-out supplement back in February. Great news is great news, even when it's yesterday's.

Congratulations to Father Raymond Hager and all of our brothers and sisters at St. Barnabas!

Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!  Exaudi, Christe. Ecclesiae Sanctae Dei salus perpetua. Redemptor mundi, Tu illam  adjuva!

This from USAToday: Explosions about a half hour apart shattered the serenity of morning services at two Las Cruces churches Sunday, but caused no injuries and only minor damage, police said.

Las Cruces police spokesman Dan Trujillo said they are still investigating explosions that happened near Calvary Baptist Church shortly after 8 a.m. and Holy Cross Catholic Church about a half hour later.

The first explosive device went off at about 8:20 a.m. in a mailbox on a wall near the administrative entrance to Calvary Baptist.  According to police, several worshippers were inside the church at the time, but services hadn’t started.

Debris was scattered around the mailbox. "Right now, there's just a lot of paper shreds," Las Cruces police Sgt. Robert Gutierrez said Sunday morning.

The next blast came from a trash can outside Holy Cross Catholic at about 8:40 a.m. as Monsignor John Anderson was helping pass Communion. The bomb exploded just outside the front glass doors, shattering the thick glass…

Sunday services for later in the day were cancelled at both churches as police blocked off the streets to allow bomb-sniffing dogs to search the premises.

The Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, New Mexico State Police, and an NMSU canine unit are all assisting in the investigation, as are federal officials with the FBI and ATF, Trujillo said. READ MORE

REMNANT COMMENT: As unfortunate as this is, obviously there’s no cause for alarm. After all, no LGBT properties were bombed, no abortion clinics, no mosques—just Christian churches, and the government would like to see all those shut down eventually anyway.

I wonder if the Southern Poverty Law Center had these two churches on their hate map, not that there would be any connection if they had. Just curious. I'm sure the old SPLC will be working night and day tracking down the haters who bombed these two Christian churches....yeah, right!

Speaking of things to come for Christians in America, don’t miss Patrick Archbold’s sobering new article in the print - and e-edition of The Remnant: “Persecution Rising”

This from World Net Daily: "The state of Kentucky has begun imposing a religious test on volunteer pastor counselors in its youth division, insisting that they refrain from calling homosexuality “sinful” and dismissing those who cannot bend their religious faith to accommodate the state requirements. The policy was uncovered by Liberty Counsel, which has sent a letter to Bob Hayter, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, demanding that the state religious test be dropped and that a dismissed counselor be reinstated.

“Liberty Counsel writes regarding the blatantly unconstitutional revocation of volunteer prison minister status of ordained Christian minister David Wells, who has provided voluntary spiritual counseling and mentorship to juvenile inmates under the control of the Department of Juvenile Justice. … This revocation was issued by Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center on the basis of the April 4, 2014, DJJ Policy 912, which mandates full DJJ support of homosexuality and transvestism.

“With no evidence of any violation of DJJ policy on Mr. Wells’ part, his volunteer status was revoked by the Warren RJDC superintendent because he could not sign a state-mandated statement that homosexuality was not ‘sinful,’ among other things,” the letter said.

The policy states that DJJ staff, volunteers and others “shall not imply or tell LGBTQI juveniles that they are abnormal, deviant, sinful or that they can or should change their sexual orientation or gender identity.” Read more

REMNANT COMMENT: Counter-Christian or Christophobia is no laughing matter.  State by State, city by city, institution by institution-- at some point, if you hold Christian values, you will become a social pariah and subsequently put into a status place of rejection.  It may mean paying  fines or jail time as many an Operation Rescue Pro-Lifer can tell you; they have experienced the loss of their First Amendment rights and police brutality and you're next.   It may even go beyond Church, school and employment and it is certain to become the law of our pitiable land.

Christians need not apply; unless they sign a gag order. Welcome to the USSA (the United Sodomitical States of America)

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) speaks about the Planned Parenthood video and their gruesome abortion practices on the Senate floor (July 16, 2015).  At one point he's moved to tears over the very thought of the horror of abortion.

When's the last time we saw a politician weep over the ghastly American baby holocaust?  And yet isn't that what's missing today-- tears? grief? a sense of repugnance and outrage over the sick and depraved people we’ve become, living in an “enlightened” society that thinks nothing of ripping babies in half in the name of some narcissistic and selfish "right to choose" what we want, when we want, where we want and how we want it?

God bless you, Senator.  Don't back down!
This just in from  "Representatives from Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co. and Xerox say they’ve asked Planned Parenthood to remove their names as corporate donors to the embattled organization.

The move follows a Daily Signal report revealing the names of 41 companies that Planned Parenthood listed as donors. That list, which was featured on Planned Parenthood’s website, has since been removed.

This latest development comes in the wake of two undercover videos that showed Planned Parenthood executives talking about the sale of fetal body parts. Planned Parenthood is facing both federal and state investigationsand the possibility of losing taxpayer funding." READ MORE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: This thing isn't over yet. The forces of hell have won a few rounds...well, check that, they've won a LOT of rounds.  But here is an example of the evil ones in their Luciferian pride having jumped the shark—and while a camera was rolling, no less.

Now, let's be honest: These big companies are likely not driven to move away from Planned Parenthood by some moral conflicts of conscience. After all, what were they doing on the PP list in the first place? But in this case enough moral people publicized their outrage against the latest demonic manifestation from Planned Parenthood that even some very large companies blinked.

Good for the good guys!  The lesson learned?  We need to continue to fight! We cannot grow complacent. We mustn't become desensitized to the evil all around us. Preserve the outrage, amplify it in the public square, and don’t be intimidated by the demons.

This just in from The Federalist:  Instead of investigating whether Planned Parenthood illegally trafficked baby body parts, Obama's DOJ is targeting the group behind the undercover videos

The U.S. Department of Justice announced plans to investigate the group that produced undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood employees admitting that they harvest and sell organs ripped from the bodies aborted babies. Politico reported the news of the coming DOJ investigation earlier today:
JUSTICE TO PROBE CENTER FOR MEDICAL PROGRESS — While congressional committees investigate Planned Parenthood’s practices, the Justice Department agreed to look into whether the group that released the sting videos obtained the footage legally. In response to a request by House Democrats, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Wednesday afternoon that Justice would “review all of the information and determine what the appropriate steps moving forward would be.” Planned Parenthood has staunchly defended its practices and claims that the Center for Medical Progress illegally obtained its footage, then excessively edited it to misrepresent what the organization does.
The DOJ investigation of the Center for Medical Progress, which, unlike Planned Parenthood, is not in the business of killing healthy, viable unborn babies in order to sell their organs for cash, was announced after several Democratic lawmakers called for the organization to be targeted: READ FULL STORY HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Mr. Hitler, Mr. Stalin, we're very sorry for having judged you both so harshly. Turns out you dudes were right all along with your storm troopers, secret police and strong-arm tactics. We're not a Republic. Heck, we're not even a democracy anymore and when it comes to tyrannical regimes, well this sweet land of liberty is right up there with the best of them.

Kudos to Brit Hume!

This just in from The Catholic World Report in an article entitled  "The hyperbolic and exhausting pontificate of Francis," by Carol E. Olson:   "My impression is that many Catholics are weary of the seemingly constant addresses, homilies, interviews, texts—many of which read like lectures—that come from the Holy Father

"Popes, as important as they are, come and go; the Word of God endures forever." READ ARTICLE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: If the Synod on the Family goes as we fear it well might, the one silver lining will be a massive unification of sincere Catholics all over the world. The Remnant is not interested in told-ya-so polemics. The souls (and perhaps even the lives) of all of our children are at stake now.

If we're to survive the coming purge of all things Catholic and if we're to keep the Faith, we need numbers, NOT vindication. The Remnant longs for the day when we can all say, without the slightest whiff of bitterness or animosity: We're all traditional Catholics now!

The Ministry of Health in Russia has signed an agreement with the Russian Orthodox Church that includes prevention of abortion and provision of palliative care. The agreement signed by Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova and Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Churchwas published on the website of the Synodal Department for ROC [Russian Orthodox Church] Church Charity and Social Service.

Article 9 of the 21 article agreement establishes cooperation “on the protection of maternal and child health, including reproductive health, promotion of family values and prevention of abortion.” The agreement includes joint actions with medical institutions for the  “creation of crisis pregnancy centers at hospitals with the participation of psychologists and participation of representatives of religious organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church in advising women who are planning to terminate the pregnancy, in medical institutions”  and for the provision of space for  “posting information of religious organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church on the stands in medical institutions.”

Meanwhile, The Russian State Duma is considering legislation on abortion that includes limiting funding for abortion to only those that are considered medically necessary. The bill is designed to help reduce the number of Russian children destroyed through the violence of abortion. READ MORE HERE

Remnant Comment: What is going on here? As America falls further into the pit of depravity, Godlessness, baby killing and the destruction of the family, the "Evil Empire" is rising up as the last best hope of the world. What the heck?

Today from the Catholic Herald: "The US president hails the Pope's intervention as 'clear and powerful' The President of the United States has said he wants fellow world leaders to reflect on Pope Francis’s encyclical. Laudato Si’, published yesterday, called for humanity to change its approach to the environment and the way it judged progress. Barack Obama spoke of the responsibility that his own job title brings in leading the way towards a change in global environmental policy.

“I welcome His Holiness Pope Francis’s encyclical, and deeply admire the Pope’s decision to make the case – clearly, powerfully, and with the full moral authority of his position – for action on global climate change. As we prepare for global climate negotiations in Paris this December, it is my hope that all world leaders and all God’s children will reflect on Pope Francis’s call to come together to care for our common home.

“We have a profound responsibility to protect our children, and our children’s children, from the damaging impacts of climate change.” READ MORE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Okay, so the Pope has given us an encyclical that has won the wild and unconditional praise of a who's who list of one-worlders, pro-aborts and sustainable development types-- everyone from Al Gore to Jeffrey Sachs to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. And now the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history says we all need to carefully reflect on the encyclical, which President Obama "deeply admires".

Everybody okay with this? The Remnant is just being reactionary and paranoid in its criticisms of Laudato Si, right? Really? Holy cow!

This just in from Julia Hartley-Brewer at the Telegraph: "What the head of an anti-science body like the Catholic Church says about climate change is about as relevant as Kim Kardashian on the eurozone. It’s a funny old world. Environmentalists are dancing with glee after Pope Francis issued a statement calling on every man, woman and child to stand together to tackle the issue of climate change. The Pope, after all, is the highly influential leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics around the world and a man who can bend the ear of any president or prime minister he wants at any time.

"Getting him on board the green bandwagon is an undoubted coup for the eco-lobby.  His statement came in the form of an encyclical, a papal letter to bishops usually aimed at ending debate on a theological issue, to be formally published today, and it represents the Pope’s views on the God-given responsibility of humans to act as custodians of the earth....

"Now, I’m sure Pope Francis is a perfectly decent and moral man who means well and wants nothing but the best for mankind and our planet. But - and it’s quite a bit “but” - I’m afraid the Catholic Church lost its right to hand out moral lectures to the rest of the world some time ago."  READ ARTICLE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Remember how Maximilien Robespierre, mastermind of the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, ended up?  He was beheaded by the Paris mob who'd hailed him as their ‘incorruptible’ god just a short while before. They beheaded the Carmelite Nuns of Compiegne in July and, in that very same month, with the echo of those sweet voices singing the Veni Creator Spiritus on their way to the scaffold still fresh in the memory of the mob, they turned on Robespierre himself and lopped off his head too.

Unless Francis officially denies the divinity of Jesus Christ and calls on the whole world to spit on the crucifix, it's only a matter of time before the rabid enemies of the Cross will call for his head, too.
In his one-man popularity show at the expense of the traditions of the Church, the Pope's ratings at the moment are very high, but only with the far-Left, and this is because they are obviously using him to prepare for the crucifixion of the Mystical Body of Christ. Alas, he's having too much fun to realize how he's being used.

But as this Telegraph article intimates, those popularity numbers won't last as the enemies of the Church are historically never very impressed with the politics of appeasement. The pontificate of Pope Francis will be crushed by the world, the flesh and the devil just as soon as its horrific novelty becomes passé and he ceases to be useful to the enemies of the Church.

God help us, when is this deluded old modernist going to wake up?
