Introduction by Michael Matt
Let’s go back ten years and imagine me telling readers of The Remnant that the day is coming when the pope will abdicate and be replaced by a globalist who will order every church in the world to close its doors, suspend Sunday obligation indefinitely, ban all private Masses in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome and initiate a plan to abolish Summorum Pontificum worldwide.
You would have cancelled your subscription to The Remnant and rightfully so, its editor having obviously lost his mind. And yet here we are. Among his increasingly bizarre initiatives, declaring all-out war on the Mass—the Traditional Latin Mass, as well as Novus Ordo private Mass—may go down as the hallmark of this ridiculous pontificate.

In this episode of The Editor’s Desk, Michael J. Matt asks the question: Are the wheels falling off the Covid Cult?
- The Department of Defense lifts masks and does NOT require proof of vaccination
- Target stores, Lowe’s, Walmart, Starbucks all drop masks without requiring proof of vax
- Pope Fauci is mocked on SNL
- Leftist golden boy, Bill Gates, is discredited by everyone, including his wife

This RTV Short is a clip from Michael J. Matt's May 8, 2021 Editor's Desk: "STUPID IDEAS: Why The Great Reset Will Fail."
We have had many requests to make this clip available as an easily shareable standalone, as it includes a powerful sign of hope that too place recently on a street in Poland: An encounter between an old Christian woman and a young pagan activist.

When the “science” can no longer support the agenda, it’s time to change the science.
Last week the “experts” said we all had to wear our cute lil masks even after being vaccinated. This week they changed their minds, and even Uncle Joe gets to shuffle around mask-less.
Today is the day!
Back on May 7, the Biden White House issued an order to lower flags to half-staff around the nation to honor fallen police officers during National Police Week 2021.
The flags would have been lowered today, had it not been for the fact that the Biden Administration abruptly reversed the decision last week, eliminating any call to lower the flags in honor of fallen police.

Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America
I see that everybody is comparing Joe Biden to Jimmy Carter. It would seem to me that is very unfair to Jimmy Carter. Jimmy mishandled crisis after crisis, but Biden has CREATED crisis after crisis. First there was the Biden Border Crisis (that he refuses to call a Crisis), then the Biden Economic Crisis, then the Biden Israel Crisis, and now the Biden Gas Crisis. Joe Biden has had the worst start of any president in United States history, and someday, they will compare future disasters to the Biden Administration—but no, Jimmy was better!

On Cajun Cooking and Liberal Tolerance
Is liberal tolerance possible? Does the Enlightenment have a dark side? And what does any of this have to do with Cajun cooking?

Hey, remember 'contact tracing'? Whatever happened to that? Joe Biden's mask mandate never happened, either. What gives? Even Team Gates is falling apart. Did the lunatics at Davos jump the shark?
In this edition of The Editor's Desk, Michael J. Matt talks good news. With mask mandates collapsing all over the country, and Blue state governors losing in court, there's an opportunity to push back against the COVID Stupid.
AmericanExperiment.org: For the first time since invoking emergency orders, Gov. Tim Walz lost a court battle challenging his emergency powers, specifically his orders limiting church worship services, treating them differently than grocery stores, retail outlets and sports venues. The Upper Midwest Law Center (UMWLC) prevailed in federal court this week on behalf of Northland Baptist Church and Living Word Christian Center against the state’s motion to dismiss the case on March 30, 2021. After losing their motion to dismiss, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Walz decided to settle the case, meaning current and future emergency orders can no longer discriminate against churches on capacity limits.
Acting as our benevolent leader, Walz will likely announce later today that churches will be allowed to open to full capacity because his administration has made so much progress on vaccinations and mitigation efforts. But make no mistake about it — any relaxation of church capacity is court ordered.

REMNANT COMMENT: While this news is welcome and encouraging, the conspicuous absence of Catholic priests in the case is a somber reminder of the role that the Catholic Church has played during this 15-month crisis. We'd like to take the opportunity to urge all pastors and priests to pursue a similar course of action to that of these Christian churches, and to reopen their parishes to full capacity, for the good of souls and the greater glory of God.
At the end of April, Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P., the new president of St. John’s University—an ostensibly Catholic institution—sent the following email to faculty and staff, under the subject line “LGBTQ+ Climate Assessment”:
Earlier this semester the Office of Equity and Inclusion engaged the Transgender Training Institute to conduct an LGBTQ+ climate assessment. As I read the survey results, I was disheartened to learn about the many negative experiences of our LGBTQ+ students, employees, and alumni: a lack of support, neglect, ignorance, bias, and prejudice. As the report indicates, our non-binary and transgender members have experienced acute distress, and the lack of BIPOC participants leaves gaps in our knowledge of the oppression experienced by those who hold multiple minoritized social identities. It is clear, both from the climate survey and my own observations, that much work needs to be done to transform St. John’s into a place that is equitable and inclusive for LGBTQ+ people.
