Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

Introduction

In June of 2018, Pope Bergoglio approved the “martyrdom” of the leftwing radical Argentine prelate Enrique Angelelli, Bishop of La Rioja, who died in a car crash in 1976.  On April 27, 2019 Angelelli and three others who opposed Argentina’s military regime during the Dirty War (1974-1983) were “beatified” as “martyrs” for the Faith at a ceremony in La Rioja presided over by Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

DrudgeReport headlines scream “Pope Funds Caravan” or “Border Battle: Pope Funds Caravan.” The Vatican wires half a million dollars from Peter’s Pence to aid the illegal immigrant caravan marching over the southern border of the United States.

Attention Catholics!

This year the director of the Lord of the Rings films, Peter Jackson, offered the world a unique look into recent history. Produced to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities in World War I, Jackson created the extraordinary documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old.” The film features archival footage of soldiers of the Great War, painstakingly remastered using computer technology to show us a glimpse of the war as these young men would have seen it.

The film slows down, cleans up and then convincingly colourises the original footage to show us the kind of young men – many of them only boys – we can easily imagine knowing ourselves. It takes the war out of the realm of remote and quaint lost era of the past, the world of the silent film and comic antics of Charlie Chaplain, to an immediate and humanised reality.

CHRIST or DEATH: The Choice of 1914

Written by

notre dame cathedral faithful

Monday began for most of us just like it always does. I was late for work, again. Dashed out, forgetting breakfast and to brush my hair, but the kids I teach didn’t seem to notice (or if they did, were cute enough to let it slide). It wasn’t until I was pulling back into my driveway that I got the text.

“I’m devastated! God help us.”

From the Editor’s Desk, Michael Matt examines the Holy Week symbolism of the French rooster. which the whole world saw plunge into the flames of Notre Dame. Was that an evil omen, or a good one?

Plus, an old and prophetic French holy card surfaces, which depicts the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Cathedral of Notre Dame in flames.

The procession of the Crucifixion was headed by a trumpeter, who sounded his trumpet at every street corner and proclaimed the execution. Some paces behind him came a crowd of boys and other rude fellows, carrying drink, cords, nails, wedges, and baskets of tools of all kinds, while sturdy servant men bore poles, ladders, and the trunks belonging to the crosses of the thieves. The crown of thorns, which it was impossible to leave on during the carriage of the cross, was taken from Christ's head and placed on the end of a pole, which this lad now carried over his shoulder.

And next came Our Lord and Redeemer, bowed down under the heavy weight of the cross, bruised, torn with scourges, exhausted, and tottering.

Notre Dame Cartoon

This RTV Short uses happier images from Remnant Tours in Paris to pay homage to Our Lady's cathedral, which yesterday was engulfed in flames so completely that many thought she would surely burn to the ground.

Evidently, Our Lady had other ideas. After Parisians watched her burn, rosaries in hand last evening, they awoke this morning to find the old Cathedral miraculously still standing, the Crown of Thornes rescued, the famous rose windows, pieta and organ saved. The Godless world had looked on in horror as one of Catholicism's most important symbols went up in smoke and, incredibly, they wept.

105852839 1555348759830damfire.530x298Update: Since first posting this report of the fire at Notre Dame, the situation is obviously much worse now, as the old Cathedral is burning out of control. Who or what is behind this unthinkable tragedy remains to be seen and is not for us about which to speculate. For the moment in all of its horror, we can only offer our prayers, thoughts and tears to our French brothers and sisters who, in many ways, are watching part of themselves burn to the ground. Along with them, we are devastated beyond words. Notre Dame, Reine de France, priez pour nous tous. MJM

FRANCIS: Papal Humility On Display

In this Remnant TV Short, we examine the bizarre scene at the Vatican last week when Pope Francis suddenly took it upon himself to start kissing the feet of some visiting dignitaries.

To see the Vicar of Christ, Successor of St. Peter, down on all fours did violence to the sensibilities of many Catholics, while giving others to believe this is the humblest pope in the history of the world! But is it humility that causes one to stand when others kneel, to keel when others stand, and to constantly be seeking out opportunities to single oneself out and to be different?

Benedict XVI’s April letter on the crisis in the Church is not easily critiqued or, indeed, categorized. First of all, he’s not the pope, and so it's natural for one to wonder what the point of the exercise actually was.

On the other hand, as Francis continues to severely undermine what’s left of the Catholic Church, should Benedict be faulted for trying to do something meaningful in the face a crisis no one in Rome seems ready to even adequately address, much less seriously confront?
