RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome
Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.
Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:View items...

"Moreover, we may well believe that the Queen of Heaven herself has granted an especial efficacy to this mode of supplication, for it was by her command and counsel that the devotion was begun and spread abroad by the holy Patriarch Dominic."
- Pope Leo XIII, (Octobri Mense Encyclical on the Rosary, 1891) -
Editor’s Note by Michael J. Matt: The following was published in The Remnant back in 1995, before the promulgation of Pope John Paul’s (when he was very elderly and ill) Luminous Mysteries. It is very fashionable these days to argue that Our Lady never actually appeared to St. Dominic in order to commission him with the task of spreading devotion to the most Holy Rosary. This entire incident, supported by at least 15 popes and numerous saints, is nevertheless chalked up as yet another one of the “pious legends of old Christendom” of which our Modernist friends are so fond.
But this “legend” is so well substantiated by popes and saints in history that its authenticity cannot be reasonably questioned without revealing at least a Modernist leaning.
Father reminds us of what happened at the Bay of Lepanto back in the 16th century, and he then ties that "lost cause" to the efforts being made to correct Pope Francis--starting with those of the Dubia Cardinals and then moving down to the recent Filial Correction. What's the connection? What’s the point? What’s the use? Watch and see.
Two decades before the current Pope caused open consternation among the faithful by disregarding previous teaching, one of his most beloved predecessors successfully did the same thing with barely any outcry.

From Cardinal Burke’s own mouth to Vatican journalist Edward Pentin: His part-time reinstatement means no delay for the impending correction.
Edward Pentin/ National Catholic Register/ Oct. 3, 2017: Cardinal Raymond Burke has said his appointment last week as a member [not his old role of prefect] of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, the Church’s highest judicial authority, is not a full-time position but will allow him to serve as one of the court's judges when requested.
“Some of the faithful have misunderstood the appointment, thinking that I am now returning to serve full-time in the offices of the Apostolic Signatura,” Cardinal Burke said in an Oct. 2 statement responding to enquiries from journalists. “Members of the Roman dicasteries, apart from the prefect, do not serve full-time but offer their assistance, when it is requested by the prefect.”
...Throughout the dispute over the issue, the cardinal has stressed he is acting on his conscience, for the good of the Church, the papacy and the individual souls of the faithful.
“The urgency of a response to the dubia derives from the harm done to souls by the confusion and error, which result, as long as the fundamental questions raised are not answered in accord with the constant teaching and practice of the Church,” Cardinal Burke said in the interview.
“The urgency weighs very heavily on my heart,” he said, adding he has seen “a great deal of confusion, also people feeling that the Church is not a secure point of reference.”
The cardinal said his appointment will not change, or delay, his plans to issue a fraternal correction of the Pope if the Holy Father continues not to respond to the dubia. Read the entire report HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: Pray for Cardinal Burke. This is far from over.

Michael comments on the ramifications of a traditional Catholic being invited to defend the decision to resist the errors of Pope Francis on what used to be known as 'Neo-Catholic Central' -- EWTN. Big change in the wind? Plus, Cardinal Burke says the SSPX is still in schism. Is it time to denounce one of the last cardinals in the world who’s resisting the errors of Pope Francis? Please! Let's get real.

Well, it seems the Neo-Catholic Excuse Factory is still in operation, even if the excuse-makers seem to have lost some of their usual vim and vigor due to the intellectual exhaustion involved in attempting to explain away practically everything Pope Bergoglio says and does on a daily basis. Consequently, the factory’s output of excuses is experiencing significant lag times.
In keeping with his penchant for surprises, Pope Francis brings Cardinal Burke back to the Vatican high court. According to this Associated Press report:
Francis appointed Burke as a member of the Apostolic Signatura on Saturday. Members serve as advisers to the court, which currently is headed by a longtime Vatican diplomat, Cardinal Dominique Mamberti.
Francis removed Burke as the court's prefect in 2014 and named him envoy to the Knights of Malta lay religious order. The pope then effectively sidelined Burke from that job this year after he intervened in a condom scandal that led to a governance crisis in the order.
Burke continues to work as a canon lawyer and most recently headed the Vatican sex abuse investigation of Guam's suspended archbishop. READ SOURCE HERE
REMNANT COMMENT: So, what have we here? The Remnant's position on Cardinal Burke is that he's been more effective in neutralizing the errors of Pope Francis as a free agent, if you will—flitting from pillar, to post, to church basements, giving conferences and encouraging the faithful to stay strong--than when he was locked in Rome as head of the Apostolic Signatura.
Our contention has been that Cardinal Burke in exile was indirectly broadcasting his concerns all across the world, leaving everyone--even the folks at the Vatican--on tenterhooks, wondering what he'd do next.
Apparently the folks in the Vatican, starting with Pope Francis, saw it the same way. Time to rein in Cardinal Burke. Why? Well, Pope Francis knows a lot about the mafia, so let’s have Michael Corleone explain:
