Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

This just in from a certain prominent website: "The powerhouse organization of the radical traditionalist Catholic world is a sprawling international order called the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), founded by the late French archbishop, Marcel-François Lefebvre, in 1970. Although there have been recent attempts by the Vatican to pull SSPX back into the Catholic mainstream, the organization, all of whose priests were excommunicated in the late 1980s, has continued to... reject any reconciliation with the Catholic Church.

"Lefebvre was on an advisory committee to the Second Vatican Council (1962-65), which enacted several liberalizing and modernizing reforms within the church. But the archbishop refused to sign the council's final reports on religious liberty and the modern church, the first sign of a rebellion that would only grow in later years. In 1970, he founded SSPX as a seminary in Ecône, Switzerland.

"In 1974, Lefebvre publicly denounced as heretical the Vatican II reforms and the subsequent adoption of the new Mass, celebrated in local languages instead of traditional Latin. As a result, Pope Paul VI ordered the archbishop to shut down his Swiss seminary. But Lefebvre refused to comply, leading the Vatican to suspend his right to perform priestly functions (a step short of excommunication) in 1976.

"In 1988, Lefebvre took his most radical step yet, consecrating four bishops in defiance of the Vatican. Pope John Paul II responded by excommunicating Lefebvre and all SSPX priests, and declaring SSPX in formal schism with the church.

"In recent months, the Pope has extended an olive branch to SSPX members, inviting them to return to the church. But the sect's leaders rejected the suggestion outright..."

REMNANT COMMENT: I'd be happy to link to the rest of this lying piece of leftist propaganda but I'm not in the habit of sending more web traffic to the notoriously far-Left Southern Poverty Law Center.  Yes, that’s right—this slanderous rot has been recycled by the SPLC since 2006 when they first launched their "Intelligence Report" against so-called "radical traditional Catholicism".  The SPLC's full report against the Society of St. Pius X was again regurgitated in 2015 in an "Intelligence Report" that was sent to law enforcement agencies all across the country. Ironically enough, it was sent to me just yesterday and, for a moment, I mistook it for one of Michael Voris’ newly launched attacks on the SSPX.

The SPLC is attempting to coerce government agencies into listing the SSPX as a hate group and to equate the battle for orthodoxy in Christianity in general today with hate and hate groups. To this end, they have targeted the American Family Association, the SSPX, The Remnant, and countless other pro-life, pro-family, pro-Latin Mass groups.

So why is Michael Voris and Church Militant TV spending this entire week trying to vilify the largest traditional Catholic priestly fraternity in the world by conducting a so-called “FBI investigation" of the "schismatic" SSPX? That's a good question. Perhaps we should ask Mr. Voris, especially now during the run-up to the Synod on the Family which promises to blow the human element of the Church into full-blown schism. Michael has nothing better to do? Really?

From our point of view and whether he realizes it or not, Mr. Voris is carrying water for the most dangerous secularist enemies of the Catholic Church today. In attempting to isolate the SSPX as a “radical” fringe group that is “outside the Catholic Church” he becomes a star witness for the SPLC, and thus ultimately aids those who threaten the freedom and wellbeing of large families, hundreds of priests who adhere to the old teachings on marriage and homosexuality, tens of thousands of children, and so many good and faithful Catholics whose only "crime" is to seek refuge in the SSPX and try to save the souls of their children during the worst revolution in history.

The last thing these folks need--the last thing any of us needs at this dangerous anti-family, anti-God and anti-Catholic moment--is Michael Voris trying to boost his ratings by publicly and loudly stabbing traditional Catholics of any sort in the back and playing directly into the hands of the infamous Southern Poverty Law Center.

For heaven's sake, Michael, knock it off! Stop carrying water for the bad guys.

This just in from the Daily Caller: “Don’t expect new Christmas stamps this year because for the first time in decades the U.S. Postal Service won’t issue a new stamp depicting any Christian religious figure or symbol. No baby Jesus. No Mary. And none of the three wise men…

In 45 of the last 50 years, the postal service has printed new images for each Christmas season, including Mary, angels, wise men, Nativity scenes, the Star of David and even Santa Claus. But this year, all of them have been banished from the production presses.

REMNANT COMMENT: Have no fear, however, because there will be “A Charlie Brown Christmas” stamp — including “Linus kneeling by a scrawny Christmas tree, Snoopy and children ice skating, Charlie Brown checking his mail box, Linus leaning on a snowy brick wall and Charlie Brown standing in front of Snoopy’s doghouse. There will be one with Charlie Brown and a Christmas tree.”

Christ was dropped from Christmas long ago, of course, and now replaced by various cartoon characters. Christ was dropped from Easter some time back too, and magically replaced by a rabbit.

But, really, honestly, seriously—there’s no Christophobia in America. For hell's sake, don't be ridiculous!

Yes, so this is the headline over at the Catholic Herald, and here are some snippets:

A three-week Synod of Bishops to talk in the abstract about Catholic teaching on the family makes no sense to Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna.

“We are all called to observe the situation, not gazing from above and beginning with abstract ideas, but with the gaze of pastors who scrutinize today’s reality in an evangelical spirit,” the cardinal said in an interview with Jesuit Fr Antonio Spadaro, editor of La Civiltà Cattolica.

In the early September interview, the cardinal spoke about his experience at the extraordinary Synod of Bishops on the family last year, about his own parents’ divorce, about the relationships of his friends and about his hopes for the world Synod of Bishops on the family next month...

Cardinal Schönborn spoke in the interview about a gay friend of his who, after many temporary relationships, is now in a stable relationship. “It’s an improvement,” he said. They share “a life, they share their joys and sufferings, they help one another. It must be recognized that this person took an important step for his own good and the good of others, even though it certainly is not a situation the Church can consider ‘regular’.”

The Church’s negative “judgment about homosexual acts is necessary”, he said, “but the Church should not look in the bedroom first, but in the dining room! It must accompany people.” READ ARTICLE HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Behold the soft and seductive words of the quintessential Modernist: Oh yes, the Church's infallible teachings are just that, infallible. But Jesus needs us to demand more of ourselves, to reach further out of ourselves to find a way to lovingly open our arms and our doors to all. No sin is too much for mercy. Kindness and forgiveness trumps all. blah, blah, blah.

And always and forever the one missing component—the 900-pound gorilla in the parlor—is never even mentioned--REPENTANCE.

Yes, the Church is merciful as is Christ, but Christ does not forgive that for which we are not sorry. That's the way it works, Your Eminence. Remember your catechism?

By the way, is Ignatius Press going to continue to sell the books by this disturbed and disturbing prelate?

Big News from Remnant TV...

His Excellency Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison, Wisconsin graciously apologizes to the Society of St. Pius X.

Will this stunning development finally end the schism mongers' ugly witch hunt?

Plus, Edward Pentin reports on an explosive dossier inside the Vatican that may mean big trouble for Pope Francis.

This weekend our nation celebrates Labor Day. The origins of this national holiday go back more than a hundred years, when many workers in factories and fields were grossly overworked and often underpaid. Since that time in affluent America the rights and dignity of workers have made significant advances, often through the intervention of government, which imposes worker-friendly standards upon employers. How ironic then that on this extended weekend, intended for the rest and recreation of laborers, this same government which claims to care about workers has now imprisoned one of its own public servants.

I am speaking of the county clerk in Kentucky, who sits in a jail cell over this three day weekend for the alleged crime of refusing to authorize and issue same-sex marriage certificates to homosexual couples.

Editor's Note: What follows is an article I wrote some 14 years ago while stranded in a hotel in New York City. We're posting it again today as a reminder to pray for all those who lost their lives on 9/11, and to recall how our nation turned back to God ever so briefly after that terrible day, only to abandon Him with an unholy vengeance in the days that followed. We were warned, it would seem, but we did not listen. One wonders what American will be 14 years from now, as our war against God, the family and the unborn now rages out of control and the threat of terrorism is as American as baseball and apple pie. NEW YORK (November 12, 2001)—I write these words from the twelfth floor of the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City. Emergency vehicle sirens wail in the streets of Manhattan below my window. It seems that the city is crying again.

The television in my hotel room is on. I’m trying to learn more about the latest crisis to strike this poor city: an airplane—yet another American Airliner—has crashed into Queens. Over 240 passengers and crew are dead; nobody knows how many are dead on the ground where Flight 587 apparently exploded and plummeted into a residential neighborhood.

The Traditional Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

O Most Glorious Prince of the Heavenly Armies, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in our wrestling against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places (Eph 6:12). Come to the aid of men, whom GOD created incorruptible, and to the Image of His own Likeness He made him (Wis 2:23); and from the tyranny of the devil He bought him at a great price (Cor 7:23).
The Mike 'n' Chris Show

"Rad Trad" chat about the dire warnings of Our Lady of Akita, Pope Francis green-lighting the SSPX priests to hear confession for one year (?) and other weird developments as the world braces for October's Schism on the Family.

By the way, Remnant TV (RTV) now has its own video platform here at RemnantNewspaper.com. Yes, we're gradually moving away from YouTube. But we will continue to post our videos on YouTube as we make the big move over to our very own Internet TV home. Thanks for your patience as we make this important transition.

Early reports are in, and it looks like Pope Francis, as expected, has radically reformed the process by which Catholics may annul their marriages, streamlining steps that many liberals in the church considered too cumbersome.

The move is the latest in a series of public relations initiatives, whereby Francis hopes to make his pontificate appear more responsive to the needs of lay Catholics, especially those who have "long felt marginalized" by the hierarchy (READ: Don't like Catholic moral theology).

The three main changes announced on Tuesday are:
