Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

The essay you see before you is not intended to function as a reasoned argument, nor is it an explanation of some new idea. It is meant to act as a sort of “word study,” examining the appearance, usage, and development of the notion of liberalism as found in Catholic Social Teaching. I’ve attempted to keep my commentary to a minimum, only interjecting in order to provide context and “connect the dots.”

I happen to consider liberalism to be the fundamental error of the modern world. I believe that there exists, particularly in America a definite allegiance to this error. Moreover, this allegiance is bi-partisan: it is present regardless of party affiliation. I have argued that many of our problems, if not directly caused by the liberal mentality, are at least exacerbated by it. I’ve even gone so far as to suggest that liberalism actually fosters ignorance and guarantees social dysfunction.

Today from France.com: "Pope Francis’ liberal credentials have taken a blow after the Vatican reportedly refused to accept the nomination of the new French ambassador, a close aide of President François Hollande, because he is gay.

"Laurent Stefanini, a senior diplomat and French President François Hollande’s chief of protocol, was nominated in early January but the Vatican has yet to accept his credentials, officials in Paris said.

"Normally a new ambassador’s credentials are accepted within a month and a half. The Vatican does not usually explicitly refuse an envoy’s credentials, but a prolonged silence after a nomination is interpreted as a rejection...

"A French presidential aide said that the choice of the 54-year-old to represent France at the Vatican resulted from “a wish by the president and a cabinet decision” and that the president regarded him as "one of our best diplomats." Libération daily headlined its article on the story with 'The Pope tarnishes his image'." REMNANT COMMENT: This is so typical of the sacrilegious effrontery routinely served up by the dangerous secularist regime that is modern, self-destructing France. One can only hope that such brazen Christophobia from the former eldest daughter of the Catholic Church will help Pope Francis realize that the politics of appeasement will only encourage the evil conquerors of holy Christendom to step up their attacks on Christ's holy Church.  Pope Francis must judge, and judge quickly and justly for all the world to see. France's attempted finger-in-the-eye of the Vatican should make it pretty obvious how effective Francis's famous refusal to judge has been so far.

That the Vatican has thus far rejected this diplomatic appointment is a good sign, of course, and demonstrates once again why the loyal Catholic opposition must not fear to raise its voice in respectful protest, promising the Vatican that when they set politics aside in favor of Tradition they will have no more loyal defenders in the world than traditional Catholics; but when they shirk their sacred duty before God and Tradition out of fear of a world gone mad they will be hard pressed to find harsher critics than us.

From a Catholic News Service Report by Patricia Zapor -- "Quoting Pope Francis and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at the White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, President Barack Obama observed that the celebration of Easter puts other concerns into context.

"With humility and with awe, we give thanks to the extraordinary sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our savior," Obama said at the annual event in the East Room. "We reflect on the brutal pain that he suffered, the scorn that he absorbed, the sins that he bore, this extraordinary gift of salvation that he gave to us. And we try, as best we can, to comprehend the darkness that he endured so that we might receive God's light."

"Speaking to an audience of Christian religious leaders from around the country, Obama added that "even as we grapple with the sheer enormity of Jesus' sacrifice, on Easter we can't lose sight of the fact that the story didn't end on Friday. The story keeps on going. On Sunday comes the glorious Resurrection of our savior." FULL REPORT HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Well isn't that nice! We're all good, little God-loving, baby-killing Christians again. I guess we're to the point now where politicians in Washington will say pretty much anything to anyone at any time to keep the “we’re good guys” charade going.

Even good ole Uncle Joe Biden got his religious groove on for the event: "Who we are as Christians, and quite frankly, I think that's who we are as Americans. We're constantly renewed as a people and as individuals by our ability to enter into the mystery. We live our faith when we instill in our children the ability to wonder, to contemplate, and to listen to that tiny whisper amid the great silence. We live our faith when we nurture the hope and possibilities that have always defined us as a country. We live Easter -- and to live Easter is to live with the constant notion that we can always do better. We can always do better."

Yes, Joe, and you can start by calling for an end to the abortion genocide in America and, while you're at it, stop encouraging the carpet bombing of Christian marriage in this country. Until then, the only thing we're wondering about is your audacity in waxing all rhapsodic about your “deep Christian beliefs”. Yeah, right!  In fact SHUT IT, Joe! You’re an apostate, remember?

Why does the Vatican refuse to tell the world that Christian civilization is better than the predatory relativistic secularism, spawned out of 18th century Freemasonry, that still has its venomous fangs sunk into the twitching corpse of Christendom?

Are we to give a sigh of relief, or a cheer, that the Vatican seems finally to be noticing that Christians are being systematically wiped out en masse in the cradle of Christian civilisation? Or that they are telling the UN Human Rights Council that the use of force “may” be used as a “very last choice,” to defend them?

This from TheAge.com, by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter: "Women and girls have been discriminated against for too long in a twisted interpretation of the word of God. I HAVE been a practising Christian all my life and a deacon and Bible teacher for many years. My faith is a source of strength and comfort to me, as religious beliefs are to hundreds of millions of people around the world. So my decision to sever my ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, after six decades, was painful and difficult. It was, however, an unavoidable decision when the convention's leaders, quoting a few carefully selected Bible verses and claiming that Eve was created second to Adam and was responsible for original sin, ordained that women must be "subservient" to their husbands and prohibited from serving as deacons, pastors or chaplains in the military service."   IF YOU MUST HERE'S THE COMPLETE ARTICLE

REMNANT COMMENT:  At 90 years old, with a meeting with his Maker just a short time away, old Jimmy's losing his religion in order to stay politically correct right up to his last breath. So, evidently, there really is no fool like an old fool.

Good Friday for Christians in America?

Has the persecution begun already?

What can we learn from Indiana's war on religious liberty?

Michael Matt talks about Governor Pence vs. Garcia Moreno, the Kingship of Christ and the coming purge of all things Christian.

Remnant Editor’s Note: Back in February of 1973, the late, great French thinker, Jean Ousset—author of Action, the definitive guide to Catholic action—wrote a letter to a Catholic who having witnessed the auto-demolition of the Church in France, had lost his Faith. Originally written in French, Ousset’s letter was translated into English by Michael Davies who noted at the time that Ousset “depicts the current dark disorder as a call to action rather than a cause for despair.”This little known letter by Jean Ousset is as relevant today as when it was first published, perhaps more so, given that faithful Catholics in 2009 are subjected to a daily barrage of scandals and blasphemies never conceived of in 1973. Far from justifying despair in us, however, the darkness we see all around us is a subject for meditation, really—for action!—for as bad as things have become in Europe, the Americas and all across the world, we can see through Hell’s very refusal to give up the fight against the Cross that the triumph of Christ the King is inevitable. If through Catholic action we can keep despair at bay no matter how futile our efforts may seem, given the diabolical might of the opposition, we will  see the triumph of the Immaculate Heart

Breaking News from Newsmax.com  "Indiana Gov. Mike Pence made a political mistake and embarrassed himself by promising to amend his state's religious freedom law in order to defuse overblown charges that it sanctions anti-gay discrimination, Catholic scholar Brad Miner told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"Gov. Pence did himself no favors today by bowing to pressure from the left and from the gay lobby," Miner, senior editor of The Catholic Thing, told "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner. "Because those are people who are never going to support him if he decided to run for president, and he lost a lot of people in the middle group."  FULL REPORT HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: What a shock!  If we can just vote more of these GOP heroes into office America will surely return to her Christian roots!   Yeah, right!  Again, the restoraiton of the Catholic Church is the only way out of here. Everthing else is stuff 'n' nonsense!

According to the Catholic News Agency:  "A German cardinal has publicly opposed the words of two other German bishops who have suggested that the nation’s Church can form its own policies without direction from Rome.

"Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes published a letter earlier this month objecting to the pronouncements of prominent leaders of the Church in Germany that the nation's bishops' conference will pursue its own program of pastoral care for marriages and family regardless of the outcome of October's Synod on the Family.

"At a Feb. 25 press conference following the German bishops' plenary assembly, Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich and Freising, who is president of the conference, stated, “We are not a branch of Rome. Each conference of bishops is responsible for pastoral care in its cultural context and must preach the Gospel in its own, original way. We cannot wait for a synod to tell us how we have to shape pastoral care for marriage and family here.”"  FULL CNA REPORT HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Question: Are the German bishops and faithful allied with Cardinal Reinhard Marx in full communion with the Vatican, or just partial communion?  And does it even matter anymore?  Inquiring minds want to know.
