Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

two popes

Editor's Note: In a March 11th letter signed by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and addressed to Msgr. Dario Vigano, prefect of the Secretariat for Communications, the former pope reportedly offers an impassioned defense of Pope Francis against the claim that he lacks theological and philosophical formation. In no uncertain terms, this letter, bearing Benedict's signature, affirms that “there is an internal continuity between the two pontificates.”  Whether Benedict actually wrote this letter or not, it gives rise to a number of grave questions that need to be answered rather urgently before history closes the book on this commedia diabolica. Our thanks to Remnant columnist, Hilary White, for addressing the most pertinent of these here below. MJM

Recently an editor of a “conservative” Catholic magazine asked me if I would be interested in contributing a piece about the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, five years on. I declined, telling him that I was morally certain that anything I had to say about it would not be in keeping with his editorial policies. It’s been five years, and I’ve noticed that there are a lot fewer people talking about what a “courageous” act it was to give up the pontificate. The consequences of that act have been so outlandish – even for people who are mostly OK with Francis – that very few people are still willing to make polite noises about it.

As long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me. – Matthew 25:40

REPORTER’S NOTE: For the past several years, as attacks against the Catholic Church have accelerated in an increasingly Socialist world, news sources have published and broadcast sensationalized pieces about dead babies interred in underground chambers on Catholic estates, including Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home, in Tuam, Ireland, and Smyllum Park Orphanage, in Lanark, Scotland.

With anti-Catholic verbiage, reporters ran with the pieces – seemingly never letting facts get in the way of a good story – maligning priests and nuns with vicious tales and innuendo of abuse and torture, elaborated and hyperbolized with words such as horror, notorious, gruesome, grim and brutal.

New from RTV...

RTV's "Catholic Saints and Feast Days" features the great Angelic Doctor, St. Thomas Aquinas.

How can any Protestant ignore the fact that this greatest of Christian theologians was...well, CATHOLIC!

He defended and explained all Seven Sacraments, was a champion of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the Mass, and the Papacy?

Martin Luther knew better than Thomas Aquinas?

The Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas Featured

By:

“Divinity of hell! When devils will the blackest sins put on, they do suggest at first with heavenly shows.”

Iago, Othello, Desdemona and the Father of Lies

English literature provides many studies of human evil, but perhaps the most poignant and appalling of all is Iago, Shakespeare’s villain of the Tragedy of Othello. Iago provides us with an examination of St. Thomas Aquinas’s claim that lying remakes a person into the very image of the devil. Iago is held by literary historians as possibly the most purely evil character in English literature whose calculated and ruthless manipulations bring about ruin and death for all around him. And he accomplishes all this by lies and the presentation of a false front of virtue, a “heavenly show”.

The Pittsburgh Latin Mass Community and the Catholic world lost a dear friend, Father Angelus M. Shaughnessy, OFM Cap., on March 2, 2018 at the age of 89.  He died at 2:15pm while praying the 5th Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary, the Crucifixion, on a First Friday dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Father Shaughnessy was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 4, 1955, a First Saturday dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Father Angelus is perhaps best known for his time at the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) in Birmingham, Alabama from 2001 to 2007.  There, he appeared world-wide while serving in the background as the Minister General to the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word.  Father Angelus had also faithfully served God as a missionary to Papua New Guinea from 1966 to 1980.  Father Angelus was a ‘man of the world,’ but his roots were in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Born on November 16, 1929 in Rochester, PA (Diocese of Pittsburgh), he was baptized at St. Cecilia Church by a Capuchin priest, Father Hugh Rauwolf.  He attended St. Fidelis College and Seminary in Herman, PA.  On July 14, 1950, Father Angelus professed his vows as Capuchin Friar.

While stationed in the Western Pennsylvania area, in the time following the promulgation of Ecclesia Dei in 1988, Father offered his first Traditional Latin Mass for the Pittsburgh Latin Mass Community, on August 2, 1992 at St. Agnes Church in Pittsburgh.  When in town, Father Angelus would continue to serve the Pittsburgh Latin Mass community for more than a decade at St. Boniface in Pittsburgh (aka: Holy Wisdom Parish) and St. Titus in Aliquippa.

This is what Father Angelus used to tell other Catholics about the Pittsburgh Latin Mass Community:

“Jesus called us His friends because He revealed all the secrets of the Heavenly Father to us.  It seems the best kept secret in our American neighborhoods these days is the presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.  In so many places He has been:  MINIMALIZED, CASUALIZED, TRIVIALIZED, and sometimes even OSTRACIZED.  How sad to treat the greatest gift of God to us in such a shabby fashion!  There is one place in Pittsburgh where this kind of treatment to the Lord is not the case.  That is in the Latin Mass Community of Holy Wisdom Parish, where the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered in the Tridentine Tradition … The faithful who participate in these Holy Masses truly have a sense of the sacred.  Even the children who come are most edifying.  The choir that sings the High Mass is among the best.”  (from a 1996 Holy Wisdom bulletin)

Various emails in the Pittsburgh Latin Mass Community announced recently that Father Angelus was dying at the Vincentian Home near Pittsburgh.  As soon as I heard, I visited him and extended the Latin Mass Community’s appreciation and promise of prayers.  I asked Father Shaughnessy if he would like to receive the Traditional Latin form of Extreme Unction.  Without hesitation, he agreed and proceeded to make the appropriate responses in Latin.  As prescribed by tradition, I anointed Father’s eyes, ears, nose, mouth, back of the hands (not on the palms for a priest) and feet. Following other prayers, “The Rite of the Apostolic Blessing with Plenary Indulgence at the Hour of Death” was imparted.  Father Angelus had a Brown Scapular.  Before I left, I asked if it would be acceptable to him if I wrote an article about our visit for The Remnant.  He said: “Surely.”

After my visit, on the day before he died, ten members of Pittsburgh’s Traditional Latin Mass Schola Cantorum of St. John XXIII Parish, under the direction of John Rokosz, performed for Father Angelus.  On the day of his death, I offered a Traditional Latin Requiem Mass for the soul of Father Angelus Shaughnessy.

During his life on earth, Father Angelus served the faithful of the Pittsburgh Traditional Latin Mass Community.  At the time of his departure from this earth, and after his death, our prayers and appreciation for him were expressed and will continue.  May we meet again in Heaven, and in the meantime, hold forth to that certain Catholic doctrine that the “Church Triumphant,” the “Church Suffering,” and the “Church Militant,” are always united in the “Communion of Saints.”

New from The Remnant Underground, Vatican Teams Up with Far-Left, Once Again...

papa francesco wim wenders

Far-Left film maker, Wim Wenders, when he's not ripping Donald Trump or blasting Brexit, is making a movie. A big fan of Pope Francis, the head of the European Film Academy spent the last two years collaborating with the Vatican to make a movie all about Pope Francis. Sharing the George Soros vision of a world without borders, Wenders was also chosen by the Vatican to participate in the official kick-off of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. After that, he decided to make a movie—not a documentary!--about Francis, his words and his revolution. Question: Why do so many hippies and lefties adore Pope Francis? Down in the Catacombs, Michael Matt gets the boycott underway. Plus, what's going on "Catholic" Ireland and does the Vatican even care?

Would the Bergoglian Juggernaut Undermine the Case for the Infallibility of Canonizations by Raising Paul VI to the altars?

Introduction:  A Perennially Smoldering Debate Reignited

Pope Bergoglio’s rapid-fire canonizations of John Paul II and John XXIII have understandably contributed to growing concerns among the faithful about the reliability of the “saint factory” put into operation during the reign of John Paul II.  John Paul canonized more saints, including large batch canonizations, than the previous seventeen Popes combined, going all the way back to 1588, when Sixtus V founded the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints.  While Benedict XVI made some effort to slow the output  of the factory, it has ramped up production again under Bergoglio, who in five years has cranked out 885 saints, including a batch of 800 Italian martyrs, as compared with 483 saints during John Paul’s entire 27-year reign.  Five of these Bergoglian additions have been declared saints without even one verified miracle being attributed to them.

Long in the making under the Vatican Secretary of State’s policy of Ostpolitikthe Vatican’s diplomatic accommodation of communist regimes, which begin with Vatican II’s shameful silence on the evils of Communism—the Vatican-engineered destruction of the visible Catholic Church in China appears to be entering its final stage. Bergoglio, who has never uttered a critical word against communist or socialist dictator but freely declares that Trump is “not a Christian” if he builds a border wall, seems determined to finish the job already begun during the reign of John Paul II under the administration of Cardinal Angelo Sodano.  Sodano is the same corrupt bureaucrat who was covering up the Father Maciel scandal at the same time he was trotted out as the Oracle of Fatima concerning a ludicrous “interpretation” of the Third Secret we are supposed to believe Our Lady imparted to the Church as a riddle to be solved by him.

In the wake of the Parkland school shooting, while most of the media’s passionately clamoring against guns, one woman makes a far shrewder point:

By Suzanne Venker | Fox NewsMy most recent article about the Parkland school shooting and its connection to fatherlessness prompted a tsunami of emails. In one of those emails, a man named Fritz asked what I considered to be the root of fatherlessness. I decided to write a follow-up article to answer that question.

The subject of “The Desperate Cry of America’s Boys” is a difficult one. To point out that boys need their fathers is to shine a spotlight on divorce and single mothers; and that is, admittedly, uncomfortable. But there’s no way to address fatherlessness comfortably.

The fact is, divorce and family breakdown—which, to answer my emailer’s question, is the root of fatherlessness—is catastrophic for children. There’s more than one reason why, but an obvious one is that in the majority of cases, divorce separates children from their fathers.

This is destructive to both boys and girls, but each sex suffers differently. Girls who grow up deprived of their father are more likely to become depressed, more likely to self-harm, and more likely to be promiscuous. But they still have their mothers, with whom they clearly identify. Boys do not have a comparable identification and thus suffer more from father absence. They also tend to act out in a manner that’s harmful to others, which girls typically do not

…When boys don’t have this model, they suffer. And when they suffer, society suffers. A majority of school shooters come from fatherless homes; and a study of older male shooters (think Steven Paddock of the Las Vegas massacre) produces similar results. Indeed, the consequences of fatherlessness are simply staggering.

The root of fatherlessness is deep and wide, but it ultimately rests in two things: our culture’s dismissal of men as valuable human beings who have something unique to offer—on the one hand, we tell them to ‘man up,’ and on the other we tell them manhood is the problem—and its dismissal of marriage as an institution that’s crucial to the health and well-being of children. This long-standing belief has been supplanted by the notion that marriage is about the emotional fulfillment of adults.

It is not. Marriage is about the needs of children, pure and simple. That’s how it began, and that’s how it remains. Children’s needs are the same today as they were one hundred years ago. It is we, not they, who have changed. Read her excellent article HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: Now we’re getting somewhere! Please, click on the link above, read the entire article, and share it with your friends and family.

The Remnant will not be getting into the guns debate here. We've said our piece. We support Second Amendment rights. But this is so much bigger than that. If we don't address the fundamental problems that have developed in our society since we ran Christian Morality out of town and told God to go to Hell, it won't matter if we put the nation's schools in lock down, arm all the teachers with AR-15s and put state-of-the-art metal detectors in every doorway. The evil will continue to come in, the madness will only increase, and the pungent stench of death will continue to permeate the streets and classrooms of our precious New World Order.

You cannot possibly gun down all the monsters we're mass producing in progressive laboratories from sea to shining sea. Only God can save us now.
