Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome (0)

RTV Covers Vatican Sex Abuse Summit in Rome

Remnant TV was in Rome this past week covering the Vatican’s clerical sexual abuse summit on the “protection of minors”. It seemed a dismal assignment, to be sure, but the reason it was necessary for The Remnant to be in the Eternal City was so we could throw in with our traditional Catholic allies in Rome who’d organized an act of formal resistance to the Vatican sham summit.

Going in, we all knew that the ultimate goal of the summit was to establish child abuse—not rampant homosexuality in the priesthood—as the main cause of a crisis in the Catholic Church which now rivals that of the Protestant Revolt. (Remnant TV coverage of this event as well as the Vatican summit itself, can be found on The Remnant’s YouTube channel, and for your convenience is laid out below:

In case you weren’t convinced that Vatican II was plagued from its inception with a demonic spirit, how about the fact that the writer of Nostra Aetate was concealing his gay lifestyle and flatly rejected the Church’s teaching on sexuality and non-Catholic relations?

(LifeSiteNews) — 93-year-old Gregory Baum, a famed Canadian Catholic ex-priest, has in his latest book revealed that he secretly led an active homosexual life for decades.

Baum, who was a peritus or expert at the Second Vatican Council, reportedly composed the first draft of the conciliar document Nostra aetate, the Declaration on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions. Baum advocated for the elimination of the Church’s efforts to encourage Jews to recognize Christ as the Messiah and has since pushed social justice and liberation theology.

The influential cleric reveals candidly in The Oil Has Not Run Dry: The Story of My Theological Pathway, “I did not profess my own homosexuality in public because such an act of honesty would have reduced my influence as a critical theologian.” “I was eager to be heard as a theologian trusting in God as salvator mundi and committed to social justice, liberation theology, and global solidarity.”

Baum was also influential in the Catholic Church in Canada despite his openly heretical positions on sexuality, which he published in various journals. His public dissent from the 1968 declaration of the Church maintaining the ban on contraception — Humanae Vitae — was instrumental in the Canadian bishops’ own dissent from the encyclical of Pope Paul VI. As the foremost expert on the Canadian bishops’ dissent, Monsignor Vincent Foy has written, “If it had not been for the black shadow of Baum over Winnipeg, his influence over some Bishops, the Canadian theological establishment and pressure groups, the Winnipeg Statement of the Canadian Bishops on Humanae Vitae would not have refused to endorse the teaching of the encyclical as it did.”

In his new book, Baum writes, “I was 40 years old when I had my first sexual encounter with a man. I met him in a restaurant in London. This was exciting and at the same time disappointing, for I knew what love was and what I really wanted was to share my life with a partner.” Read the rest HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: How this ultra-liberal convert from Judaism managed to land a gig as peritus at Vatican II is, in and of itself, rather curious. But, there you have it. Regardless of the many good Council Fathers who attempted (in vain) to steer the Council in a Catholic direction, the reality is the Second Vatican Council quickly became a hotbed of radicals, liberals, modernists who did all in their power to destroy the Church by subverting the Council.  History will surely show that the Council was a Modernist coup d’état. In fact, as this news bit makes clear, history is already showing us this. The time for asking for clarity has come and gone. With the passage of time, Vatican II is becoming perfectly clear. What’s needed is another council at a future time to recall Vatican II and condemn its many errors and novelties.

New from The Remnant Underground...

Underground on school shootings

Down in the catacombs, Michael Matt examines the fundamental cause of horrific realities such as school shootings in America. (SPOILER ALERT: It's not the guns). Michael also looks at the Catholic Church's unconditional surrender in the Culture war, and asks the question: What's the connection between moral chaos in society and the "Church of Accompaniment" of Vatican II. Plus, when it comes to Christophobic Hollywood, how did we get from Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop John Gregory Murray and Pope Pius XI-- to Deacon Steve Greydanus?

Parkland vigil

It seems on an average we hear about a mass shooting or attempted shooting every couple of months—and those are just the significant attempts, the ones reported by the news media. There are other, countless accounts of individuals bringing weapons to school or to the workplace, showing them off, and threatening classmates and co-workers: incidents which don’t make the national news and elicit little surprise from a calloused citizenry who now seem to react to such events as if they are normal, part of everyday life, to be expected in our society.

Press Release from The Family Research Council:

Dear Friends,

What do actor George Clooney, Apple, and the Washington Post all have in common? They support the radical agenda of the $320 million Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The media, big corporations, and Hollywood are pouring millions into the coffers of the SPLC for one express purpose: to marginalize and ultimately silence the voice of Christians.

Please click here to CONTRIBUTE TO FRC's $200,000 campaign to expose the SPLC right now.

If they succeed, the consequences will be devastating to your family, your children, the church, local schools, and our country. That's why I am writing with so much urgency today!

FRC's work, in addition to your financial assistance, will help us fight back with our own dedicated campaign calling out the SPLC's radical initiative, that includes...

  • "Teaching tolerance" campaign. SPLC is dead set on putting a militant LGBT curriculum in every single public school classroom in America. Those that oppose their effort are branded a "hate group," including parents who are concerned about their children's education.
  • "Best Practices" handbook. SPLC directs teachers and administrators to create an LGBT-inclusive "school climate" by using gender inclusive language and encouraging students to attend events with same-sex dates.

The SPLC's campaign also targets FRC and many other Christian, Catholic, and Pentecostal organizations as "hate groups" -- lumping us in with the KKK and Neo-Nazis.

Exposing the SPLC's radical agenda is one of the highest priorities we have here at FRC in 2018. Part of the resources we raise are dedicated to continue our tracking and researching the ins and outs of the SPLC's radical agenda, exposing it online at sites like SPLCexposed.com, monitoring their activities, and alerting families, Christians, and other concerned citizens about their destructive activities.

Please let me hear from you today! Your tax-deductible gift will help us fight the SPLC with all of the muscle we can muster. With your support, we can win this battle.

Standing (Eph. 6:13),

REMNANT COMMENT: Supporting non-Catholic organizations attempting to expose the fundamentally Christophobic Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has to be one of the more legit ecumenical endeavors I can think of.

The Remnant is listed as a hate group by the SPLC too, of course—something of a badge of honor at this point—but we’re just one of a growing list of Christian groups targeted by the SPLC—one of the largest and richest ACTUAL hate groups in America.  What they want is to shut us all down.

Over the years, we've considered the legal option, of course; but the SPLC is comprised of cunning Far-Left lawyers—experts in the use and exploitation of laws protecting free speech. The same laws that protect our freedoms of speech and the press also provide inadvertent cover for the SPLC.

Here in America, victims of this kind of slander have very little legal recourse.  They say we’re a “hate group”, but what does that mean? How is “hate” legally defined or definable? It’s just the opinion of the SPLC that we’re “haters”, and everyone is free to make of that what he wants. But it’s not technically against the law.

There is an alternative strategy, however, that is gaining plenty of traction.  I’m referring to the organized effort to defeat the SPLC in the court of public opinion. Christian groups, pro-life organizations, libertarians and a wide variety of different conservative groups have united in an effort to raise awareness about the radical agenda to silence Christian America.

We wish Godspeed and every success to the FRC as they go on offense against the Southern Poverty Law Center.  We’ll do whatever we can to help the cause, which is gaining powerful allies.  Here, for example, is John Stossel—a mainstream libertarian commentator who, though not particularly conservative, nevertheless recognizes a total fraud when he sees one:

Editor's Note: This is a translation of a recent interview given by Father Fausto Buzzi, Assistant to the SSPX Italy District Superior to Il Giornale last week. Please pray for our friend and valued Remnant translator and his family. MJM

Il Giornale: What still separates the Saint Pius X community from the Catholic Church?

Don Fausto Buzzi: It is necessary to point out that the Society of Saint Pius X is in no way separate from the Catholic Church. We are united to the Catholic Church and we never separated from Her, despite divergences with the authorities of the Church. We are not responsible for these divergences. Archbishop Lefebvre always used to say that he was condemned because of those very things for which the popes (particularly Pope Pius XII) used to praise him. Rome was the one who changed and, with Vatican II, she distanced herself from the centuries-old Tradition of the Church.

Remnant editor, Michael J. Matt, will sit on the AOTM panel for an open discussion on the duty of Catholic men to either stand with their orthodox priests or stand against the liberals.

Plus, why does the hiearchy of the Catholic Church pretend that the Church's teaching against the homosexual lifestyle has changed somehow, when in fact it has not? Why are they all lying to gay people?

Remnant vid Pope Paul thumbnail

Down in the catacombs, Michael Matt looks at the life and legacy of one of the worst popes in history—the man Pope Francis now intends to canonize in October. Does papal infallibility seriously come into this farce? Please! At this point, claiming the Holy Ghost has anything even to do with such an obvious political stunt—aimed at canonizing the revolution of Vatican II—borders on the blasphemous. Plus, Francis is reportedly set to stab Chinese Catholics in the back in favor of Communist puppet bishops. Everybody okay with that? Has the Vatican lost its mind completely?

pope mad

No more “humble pope”

Hey, remember five minutes ago when Pope Francis shouted at a reporter in Chile that there was “no evidence” supporting complaints against his good friend Bishop Juan Barros? And, just for good measure he accused the people accusing him – victims of sexual abuse by Barros’ mentor, the convicted sex-predator Karadima – of committing “calumny”?[1] And remember when Cardinal O’Malley told the pope off in public over the “pain” these accusations had caused the victims of sexual abuse? And then remember how the pope had apologised-except-not-really because the accusations are, after all, still lies, and that there’s still “no evidence” against Barros…?

Lefebvre Conducting Ordination

Introduction by Michael J. Matt

More than forty years ago—during the disastrous reign of Pope Paul VI, the latest candidate for a Vatican-issued Halo Award, by the way—my father, Walter L. Matt, organized the first large scale public reception in the U.S. for the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.

It was held at the Radisson South Hotel, Minneapolis, on Tuesday, May 12, 1976, and its stated purpose was to assist the Archbishop in gaining a stronger foothold for the Society of St. Pius X in the States during the unprecedented crisis Blessed Pope Paul had helped unleash on the Church.

On that occasion Archbishop Lefebvre delivered an address on the desperate state of the Church at that time—42 years ago—that was never transcribed or published until we did so for the December 15, 2017 print edition of The Remnant.

Social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google are playing a sick game:

From TownHall.com:  If Facebook killed every conservative page overnight, there would be a huge outcry. On the other hand, if Facebook slowly strangled us to death, we’d fade away and would people even notice?

… In addition to that, as someone who has been working for a living in this business since 2005, let me drop a little truth bomb on you. We are now in a very oversaturated, corporation-dominated media environment. If you don’t already have a legacy website that captured traffic years ago and held onto it, huge traffic you can bring in from elsewhere, or millions of dollars to spend, your chances of getting a political website off the ground today are infinitesimal.

That gets to the heart of the biggest problem conservatives don’t realize that they have.

Social media IS the new public square. It’s the place you go when you want to reach out and find an audience. …….Except Facebook has for all intents and purposes announced that it’s killing off pages. So much for having a conservative voice there.

…Speaking of building up an audience on a platform for years and then getting screwed, YouTube is also doing that to conservatives.

… It’s easy to say, “Build your own social media website and compete with them,” but we’re talking about companies with billions of dollars and monopolistic control of their markets. The obvious solution would be to break these companies up or to at least acknowledge their importance to modern society and regulate them heavily, but conservatives don’t seem to be interested enough in either solution to even THREATEN to do this.  Read the whole thing HERE

REMNANT COMMENT: We have reason to suspect this is happening to us here at The Remnant, too. Our Facebook numbers have plummeted over the past few months, and they've done so during the same period when other Remnant numbers were on dramatic upswing.

It seems that liberal social media rewards conservative success with the blackball.

True, it could just be bad press. There are traditional Catholic blogs out there which hardly let a day go by without blasting The Remnant. But somehow I don't think that's it. A recent RTV video hit the half-million view mark in record time (for us) and is still climbing. But the same video shows negligible interest on Facebook. The sniping of petty bloggers could hardly account for that.

What's the solution? What it's always been for us: Don't put all the Remnant eggs in one basket; keep the Print-edition alive; promote the E-edition; build up RTV’s own non-YouTube platform. Do not allow the gods of the Internet to have total access to and control over the traditional Catholic press. Why not? Because it’s their ball and it’s their playground—and they will win every time.

But you can help us fight back against these Christophobes by spreading the word to family and friends that we're here and that we’re building alternatives. The Remnant is one of the few traditional Catholic organizations in the world that is not at all web dependent.

I really don't care what the "experts" say about newsprint having joined the dinosaurs--The Remnant will not give it up. We're putting more time and money into it, in fact, and what we're finding is a growing appreciation for that effort. No one can track your movements when you’re sitting in your favorite chair next to your fire reading a newspaper, and more and more folks are glad to have that peace of mind.

Big Brother Fatigue is giving newsprint an assist, I think.

My 20-year-old is off in college.  The other day he told me he'd taken a nine iron to his smart phone and went out and bought the oldest flip phone he could find. He tells me it was the most liberating thing he’s done in a long time. He also tells me lots of good kids his age are growing sick and tired of being chained to their devices.

For me it shed new light on the rather satanic scenario that plays out in the old Eagles’ song, Hotel California: “we are all just prisoners here, of our own device.” Indeed, we are…the difference being we can check out anytime we like and, if we want, we can actually leave.

The Remnant can help, in fact, by offering an alternative to the online prison: the old newspaper, folded in half on the coffee table, unplugged, non-surveilled. Quiet. Peaceful. No popups. No ads. No gimmicks. No dark side.

I hope you'll consider subscribing to our newspaper or, at the very least, help us build up a safe and Christocentric online alternative to Facebook and YouTube and all the rest by visiting our website every day and on your own, i.e., without having to be reminded by our social media “partners” which are, it would seem, actively working against us and against everything for which we stand, especially the Social Kingship of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
