BREAKING: Archbishop Viganò Summoned to Vatican Tribunal on Charge of Schism

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò contacted The Remnant this morning to make known that he has been summoned to the Vatican today, June 20, to “take notice of the accusations and evidence concerning the crime of schism of which he has been accused (public statements which result in a denial of the elements necessary to maintain communion with the Catholic Church: denial of the legitimacy of Pope Francis, rupture of communion with Him, and rejection of the Second Vatican Council)… The accused is also advised that in the absence of an appearance or a written defense, which must be forwarded to this Dicastery by 28 June 2024, he will be judged in his absence.” The notice was signed by Mons. John J. Kennedy, Secretary for the Disciplinary Section.

Why the Total Ban of the Traditional Latin Mass Seems to be Unavoidable

As I have shown in another article, [i] the volume edited by Dr. Joseph Shaw – The Latin Mass and the Intellectuals: Petitions to Save the Ancient Mass from 1966 to 2007 (Arouca Press, 2023) – contains evidence proving that those who led the Ecclesia Dei commission expected the disappearance of the Mass of the ages and its defenders. Those who wanted to preserve it were considered either poor lunatics incapable of understanding the Hegelian march of history or dangerous schismatics who had to be eliminated. Today, this latter perspective is categorically being preferred. The simple fact of the refusal of those Catholics who love Tradition to disappear classifies them, in the eyes of progressive “theologians,” in the category of infidels.

Satan and Francis Continue to Have Laughs at the Expense of God and Traditional Catholics

Just consider the promise about the benefits of “exploring” Sacred Scripture for new meanings, which always had a Protestant angle to it. The new document from the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity — The Bishop of Rome. Primacy and Synodality in the Ecumenical Dialogues and in the Responses to the Encyclical Ut unum sint — reveals some of the “fruits” of that exploration. Under the “Renewed Reading of the ‘Petrine Texts’” section we find the following punch lines that make it clear that Vatican II’s entire initiative for greater study of Scripture was an elaborate joke:

The Militant Message of the Museum of Cholet: A Guide to a Truly Catholic “Discernment”

Unfortunately, not all of the portraits of the generals of the Grand Royal and Catholic Army are to be found in the museum of Cholet, a town of crucial importance to the history of the Vendée Militaire— the name given to the counterrevolutionary uprising in the west of France that lasted from 1793 to 1799. Nevertheless, those of Generals Cathelineau, d’Elbée, la Rochejaquelein, Bonchamps, Charette, Lescure, and the Prince of Talmont are indeed gloriously on display in a prominent, centrally located, circular room. I spent all of my time in that space when the Our Lady of Guadalupe pilgrimage chapter stopped in the Museum of Cholet as part of The Remnant’s post-Chartres tour, which this year paid homage to the Vendée’s revolt against the newly founded anti-Catholic French Republic. The reason for the lengthy stay was to soak up the generals’ spirit in making a decision about what project I should undertake next.

Mysteries of the Bible: God’s Sleep

Seeking the most appropriate answers, I delved, as usual, into the reading of the interpretations by the great masters of Biblical exegesis, the Holy Fathers, and Doctors of the Church. Their readings revealed to me some significance which I would like to share here with you. I do this with the conviction that, indeed, we are in the midst of the storm. Not just any storm, but the most terrible one ever unleashed in the multi-millennial history of the Church. We find ourselves, like the apostles, threatened by terrible waves. And God seems to be sleeping. This is why we must meditate on this episode reported by all three synoptic evangelists: Matthew (8:23-27), Mark (4:36-40), and Luke (8:22-25).

What Can We Learn from Michael Matt’s Great Grandfather: the Sola Scriptura Doctrine is Wrong

Klapproth’s book is not only a highly useful read but also a source of inspiration that urges us to follow in the author’s footsteps to rediscover an almost completely forgotten art today: apologetics. Specifically, I will develop some of the themes presented with clarity, rigor, and grace by this layperson devoted to the Church. For now, however, I want to emphasize the essence of his attitude, which, for all of us, can represent a school of faith. This essence lies in complete fidelity to the faith of the Church, which he loved passionately. Such a strong and ardent love could only have been born from a deepening of Christian faith truths with the goal of clarifying and strengthening one’s own convictions. This is something Hugo Klapproth did exemplarily, proving himself – above all else – a good connoisseur of the Holy Scriptures and the Catechism.

Traditionis Custodes Claims another Scalp

A long-standing Latin Mass held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne has been canceled by the Vatican under the provisions of Traditiones Custodes. The mid-week Mass began at the Cathedral fourteen years ago and has continued since then, ceasing only during the COVID lockdowns which saw most Masses across the city suspended. The Cathedral Mass is hosted by the diocesan Latin Mass parish, which has thankfully remained unaffected by Traditiones Custodes thus far.

Corruption Irruption

That shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan so eloquently described is trading a democratic republic in for a banana republic in less than a generation. Third world dictatorships are infamous for convicting people they don’t like. We are now no better. When the constitutional rights of a citizen are trampled upon, we all lose. Reagan schooled America back in the 1980s how, “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

Germany votes to lower criminal penalties for possession of child pornography

As per the Bundestag, or the German federal parliament, the bill indicates that “possession and acquisition should be punishable with a minimum penalty of three months’ imprisonment, and distribution with a minimum penalty of six months’ imprisonment. The offenses regulated in Section 184b of the Criminal Code are therefore classified as misdemeanors and not as crimes,” Reduxx reports.

The Patient Who Refuses to Die and the Quixotic Intellectuals who Defend the Liturgy of Ages

The Evangelist Matthew relates that after the death of the Savior Christ, those who had orchestrated his execution had one major concern: to obtain the guard of the tomb where Joseph of Arimathea had placed Jesus’ body. Before Pilate, they explained that they feared lest the “heresies” of the one killed spread even more, in the event that his disciples stole his body ( Matthew 27:63-64). Pilate granted them the requested soldiers. The tomb was sealed and placed under Roman guard.
