Abuses and the Priestly Vocation According to Saint Alphonsus Mary of Liguori

This is why protecting adults and, especially, children and young people from all sins of impurity must be a fundamental concern for every Christian, whether layperson, priest, bishop, cardinal or Pope. Alongside the rules of life, which have always had and still have the role of preventing such scandalous acts, nothing is more important than the commitment of priests to the service of purity and chastity. Their mission is of the utmost importance. However, since the quality of priests depends strictly on their selection by those who consecrate them, the bishops, discerning those who have an authentic vocation from those who do not is the key to the fruitfulness of their ministry. This is why I will summarize here the criteria of the priestly vocation as established by an exceptional priest and bishop: Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori (1696–1787). His manual for priests, Dignity and Duties of the Priest; or, Selva, is the best possible reading on the priestly mission and its demands. [i]

Two Eastertide Clerical Scandals Provide Vastly Different Lessons

Satan has rarely, if ever, had as much power as he does now, and he directs a considerable portion of his efforts to attack Catholics who earnestly seek to do God’s will. This fact alone should alert us to the likelihood that the Traditional Catholic priests we admire so much for their sacrifices are often tempted beyond our imagination to fall. This obviously does not excuse priests who commit scandals, but it should inspire all of us to pray and sacrifice for our priests, as they do for us.

The Good Shepherd

Jesus identifying as is The Good Shepherd brings delight to most Christians. Who has not seen a painting of a loving Jesus cradling a lamb in his arms or across his shoulders? After all, it is a loving image of a caring shepherd who is even willing to lay down His life for His sheep. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.” (John 10:11)

SSPX Former U.S. Superior Charged with Abusing 7 Boys

This is not an isolated scandal that negatively impacts the SSPX only. The reports here and here have already gone viral on the Internet, and are naturally being used by some to attack the TLM movement as a whole, which is why I am asking the adherents of the SSPX to join me in demanding full disclosure on behalf of the victims (past, present, and future). After all, we are talking about an alleged pattern of abuse, even and including abuse by a prominent SSPX superior. We are talking about children. If you are attached to the SSPX, we are talking about your children and your grandchildren—alone in confessionals, on camping trips, in classrooms—with monsters in Roman collars.

Eclipse of the Sun, Eclipse of Faith

Without a doubt, in this interpretation lies one of the most profound lessons of the darkness during the crucifixion of the Savior Christ: the “eclipse” of faith. There is no more terrible test, for any of us, than the Cross.

The Holy Bees: An Unexpected Symbol

Thus, some of the most beloved creatures, which do so much good to humans through all their products (honey, wax, propolis, pollen, etc.), have been introduced into the prayers of the Church, becoming symbols through which we are taught both the mysteries of faith and how we must live as true Christians, working diligently and devotedly for the mystical body of our Savior Christ, under the guidance of His mother. Actually we are the “bees” invited to bear fruit: “the one thirty, another sixty, and another a hundred” (Mark 4:20).

New Apostolate Aims to Reclaim our Communities for Christ

Endorsed by Bishop Strickland, the simple format of this new apostolate requires pairs of men to go out though the streets of their own towns or communities on a weekly basis, praying the Rosary and other prayers. The formula of prayers has been carefully selected for its spiritual potency as well as to ensure protection for the participants from demonic backlash.

The Holy Cross: Gate of Heaven and Tree of life

The absolute axiom of interpreting the four Gospels, which has always been followed by the Holy Fathers and Doctors of the Church, is that nothing of all that the Savior Christ did on this earth was devoid of meaning, nor was it done at random.

Francis and His Collaborators Reject More of Vatican II Than Traditional Catholics Do

Christ is the goal of human history; He is the focal point of the longings of history and of civilization; He is the center of the human race; He is the joy of every heart and the answer of all its yearnings; He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end; and it is the Church’s “single intention” that God’s kingdom may come. Thus says Vatican II, and yet the “great defenders of Vatican II” persecute Traditional Catholics because we assert that Christ is King.
