The CCP’s muted response to Pope Francis’ death is another proof of its continued disregard for the Catholic Church

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s delayed and muted response to Pope Francis’s death is telling of the regime’s attitude towards the Catholic Church. In the hours following Pope Francis’ passing, Chinese state media provided nominal coverage (that could be contrasted with the global outpouring of tribute and critiques from those on the Left and on the Right). In fact, it took the CCP regime almost 24 hours to respond to news of the pontiff’s passing, and it did so only when asked during a regular news conference at its foreign ministry.

The View from the Pew

Francis’ pontificate was a prolonged penance that presided over a plethora of church closings, declining baptisms, confirmations, marriages, Mass attendance, and a precipitous drop in priestly ordinations.

St. Athanasius and the Upcoming Papal Conclave

For centuries, the Catholic Church has asked St. Athanasius’ intercession for defense against heresies and errors that threaten to undermine the True Faith. In particular during this interregnum period of Holy Mother Church (before the upcoming papal conclave on May 7), faithful Catholics can rely on St. Athanasius’ powerful intercession to beg Almighty God for a truly Catholic pope who will reinforce Catholic orthodoxy as revealed by Jesus Christ Himself.

How the Church’s Enemies Have Exploited Mistaken Views of Heresy to Essentially Guarantee Another Heretical Claimant to the Papacy

Days away from the conclave to elect Francis’s successor, serious Catholics fear that it would take a miracle for the white smoke to signal the election of a pope who is Catholic. We offer our prayers and sacrifices for the most favorable outcome, but as we study the list of those cardinals most likely to receive serious consideration, it is evident that very few of them would have been recognized as Catholic by Pope Pius XII or any of his predecessors.

The game is on. Is John XXIV on his way? Yes, but also no.

At exactly noon (Italian time) on April 29, 2025, the sixth General Congregation of the Cardinals came to an end. A few hours later, in an atmosphere suspended between reverence and secrecy, a rumor reached me—a tip-off, if we want to call it that. The kind that makes you jump out of your seat but, for intellectual honesty and professional rigor, must always be taken with caution. It said: “Parolin has already secured the majority. On the afternoon of May 8, white smoke. Pontifical name: John XXIV.”

GAME ON: The Catholic Church at the Crossroads

No matter what happens next week in Rome, the Revolution stands to lose more than it has to gain. If the Cardinals — most whom were appointed by France — go with another radical Modernist, the Church will erupt into civil war, millions will go down into the catacombs again, and the foundation stones of mighty Rome will be compromised. In other words, the Revolution will be totally exposed.

A Canadian Tragedy: From the Ferret into the Fire

Like Joe ‘The Catholic’ Biden, Canada’s new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, is a Catholic—a strange kind of Canadian Catholic, however, since he actually goes to church. In fact, the pro-abort, pro-gay “marriage” Mark Carney goes to mass every week and doesn’t hesitate to receive Holy Communion. Hallelujah, another ‘Catholic’ is about join the blanket party on what’s left of the bloodied corpse that used to be the glorious Catholic Church in Canada. Well played, Vatican II!

In Defense of the Roman Catholic Liturgy: the Definitive Monograph

Rigorously conceived and meticulously written with unparalleled erudition, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski’s The Once and Future Roman Rite can be read with great benefit by anyone. I especially recommend it to those who have doubts (which is why I encourage you to gift it to the hesitant), as they will decisively learn from this book why the restoration of the Traditional Roman Liturgy, as well as our participation in it, is—as the author himself puts it—“a matter of life and death, vitality and extinction.”

We need a Pope who will move the world, not move with the world

The dust has yet to settle on news and mourning of Pope Francis’ death and funeral when all eyes are set on the upcoming papal conclave for the election of a new pope. Already, both Catholic and secular media outlets are speculating on which cardinal could possibly be Pope Francis’ successor.

Pope Francis laid to rest

No hint of the fear of God, Judgement, salvation, or REPENTANCE, which is at the heart of the preaching and religion of Our Blessed Lord. This is an utterly different emphasis—nay, different religion—of Universalism.

How The Church’s Enemies Gave Us Cardinals Who Do Not Understand Easter

The majority of these heterodox Cardinals may openly profess certain truths of the Faith, but they routinely deny the logical consequences of those truths. So we have Cardinals such as “Tucho” Fernández, Cupich, McElroy, Tagle, Koch, Zuppi, Grech, and Hollerich (among many others) tell us that there is no need for non-Catholics to convert, and even less need for Catholics to follow Our Lord’s commandments.

Abortion, the Canary in the Coal Mine

It is said that a society may be judged by its treatment of the most vulnerable. This is generally taken to refer to our treatment of unborn children, a significant proportion of whom are slaughtered prior to birth, in a kind of cultural ritual aimed at asserting one’s dominance over one’s circumstances.

Francis Was a Faithful Son of the Vatican II Revolution

Francis was a faithful son of the Vatican II revolution. If he managed to save his soul, then surely he will pray for us to learn the most important lesson of his hostile occupation of the papacy: that all the harm he caused was directly related to the changes set in motion at the Council.
