Big Trouble in Little Vatican Again

Francis is not getting any younger, and his off-script gaffes are getting positively Bidenesque. Now he's in big trouble for praising Russian culture and tradition which, for some reason — known only to the inscrutable mind of the God of Surprises — is NOT a rigid tradition in the least!

Here's what Francis said that got him into the soup this time:

“Never forget your inheritance. You are the heirs of the great Russia. The great Russia of the saints, of the kings, of the great Russia of Peter the Great, of Catherine II, that great imperial Russia, cultivated, with so much culture and humanity. Never forget this inheritance. You are the heirs of the great Mother Russia, go forward. And thank you. Thank you for your way of being, for your way of being Russian.”

Now, for a change, that ain't half bad! But you could cut the irony with НР-40 nozh razvedchika. Just imagine if the God of Surprises — rather than instructing Francis to rip the Catholic culture and tradition out of our children's lives — had instead instructed him to say something like this to them:

“Never forget your inheritance. You are the heirs of the great Christendom. The great Catholicism of the saints, of the kings, of the great Christendom of Peter the Apostle, of Pius X, that great Christianity that built Western Civilization, cultivated, with so much culture and humanity. Never forget this inheritance. You are the heirs of the great Mother Church, go forward. And thank you. Thank you for your way of being, for your way of being Catholic.”

It'll be a cold day in hell, I realize ... but wouldn't it grand!
